Official History: Hawk is Guard Captain in the trading port of Haven the seediest pit of vice in the Low Kingdoms, he has served 7 long years and is the only unbribable guard left on the streets. That is the main reason he has never been promoted beyond captain. Hawk is effective, ruthless, and unbeatable with an ax in his hand and together with his partner Isobel they kept a small part of Haven from going completely beyond control.

But for Hawk there was a life before Haven, Hawk was know as Rupert, youngest Prince of the Forest Kingdom. As the youngest prince he was sent on a futile quest to slay a dragon in the hopes that he’d have the good sense to hit the borders and just keep on going. But instead Rupert proved he could never do what was expected of him and brought a dragon and a volatile princess back to the Forest Castle. After which he had to take up yet another quest to go back into the Demon infested Darkwood that he’d crossed twice. With the rising of the Blue Moon and the increasing numbers of demons swarming the Forest lands, Rupert was sent to fetch the exiled High Warlock, a botched transport spell lands them all on the castle’s doorstep just in time to attempt to save the castle. By virtue of a miracle and the Rainbow Sword he banished the Demon Prince back to his own realm and the Blue Moon and the Darkwood returned to normal and the Wild Magic brought out by the Blue Moon faded from this world. It was after this that Rupert and the Princess Julia had a disagreement with the newly crowned King Harald, after leaving his older brother tied up they left the Forest Kingdom.

Rupert and Julia both thought it rather wise to leave the pasts behind them, Hawk and Isobel Fisher eventually made their way south to Haven settling down from their mercenary lives and took up jobs in the guard there. As one of the best teams of Guards on the streets Hawk and Fisher did everything from body guarding important Reform party politicians and solving murders in the Street of the Gods, among the more mundane tasks of eradicating vampires, busting chacal dealers, and intimidating any number of criminals to see that their cases were wrapped up, if not neatly then with a minimum amount of bloodshed. On many cases Hawk and Fisher would be split up to work different angles. It was on one such case that Hawk had to face up to one of his worst nightmares. While trying to break a chacal smuggling ring Fisher’s cover was blown. He was unable to reach Isobel’s side in time and Hawk got to watch as his partner and wife of seven years was slaughtered.

Personality: Rupert was a shy, introverted individual. He was brought up in the court of the Forest Kingdom as befitted a royal prince so learned fine manners and swordsmanship but was not as polished as his older brother. Rupert was always honest and hardheaded and these traits are still painfully evident in Hawk. Hawk is no longer plagued by doubts of his own abilities. He is confident, brash, tenacious, and very much jaded by his time in Haven. He is a hard-bitten guard who has allowed his court manners fall to the wayside in keeping with his image as the Guard Captain. Hawk is every bit as loyal as Rupert was and still is a bit of a crusader at heart fighting the good fight even when it does get harder every day.

Special Abilities: His weapon that is normally worn on his hip is an axe that is a charmed blade given him by the High Warlock after defeating the Demon Prince. It can pass through most magic barriers and is some small help when dealing with spell casters in the line of work.
