HEALTH, SAFETY, AND SECURITY

CANCER UPDATE FROM JOHN HOPKINS (from source unknown):

1. No plastic containers in microwave.

2. No water bottles in freezer.

3. No plastic wrap in microwave.

John Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

Dioxin chemicals causes cancer, especially breast cancer.

Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic.

Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital, was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us.

He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. This applies to foods that contain fat. He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body.

Instead, he recommends using glass, Corning Ware or ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else Paper isn't bad, but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc.

He reminded us that a while ago, some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.

Also, he pointed out that Saran Wrap is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food.

Cover food with a paper towel or use wax paper instead.

*One example which they forgot to mention is "heating baby bottles in the microwave." That's a big no-no! Basically, the rule of thumb is: No plastic of any kind in either the microwave or freezer.

This is an article I believe you should forward to your family and friends, or anyone who is important in your life!

I've been hearing a lot of reports about soy being a fraud and not being good for you. Some has disagreed with me, so this is still an open book.

I've heard a lot of non-reliable stories of how eating pork can cause cancer. Also, I've heard some very bad things about "shellfish," but have not been able to confirm it. Maybe someone out there can send us some scientific data or studies.

Avoid any medication with Phenylpropanolamine (PPA). It appears very clear that it causes strokes. Check those labels!

Get the facts on child vaccinations! The rate of Autism has gone up 168 times since all the new vaccinations!

For anyone over 65, the rate of getting Alzheimers disease goes up 2,000% IF they take the new yearly flu vaccinations!

Alcohol consumption, over many years, is indeed cancer causing. Sorry! I'm not sure if that includes wine, so let me check on that. Definitely I remember reading beer and harder liquor.

Frequent cell phone usage causes brain tumors. YES. Now you can't say that nobody's ever warned you!

DEATH BY MEDICINE

A definitive review and close reading of medical peer-review journals, and government health statistics shows that American medicine frequently causes more harm than good. The number of people having in-hospital, adverse drug reactions (ADR) to prescribed medicine is 2.2 million .1 Dr. Richard Besser, of the CDC, in 1995, said the number of unnecessary antibiotics prescribed annually for viral infections was 20 million. Dr. Besser, in 2003, now refers to tens of millions of unnecessary antibiotics. 2, 2 a The number of unnecessary medical and surgical procedures performed annually is 7.5 million .3 The number of people exposed to unnecessary hospitalization annually is 8.9 million .4 The total number of iatrogenic deaths shown in the following table is 783,936. It is evident that the American medical system is the leading cause of death and injury in the United States. The 2001 heart disease annual death rate is 699,697; the annual cancer death rate, 553,251.5

First part of the below article:

It’s very hard to know the truth when it comes to food, because so many people have so many different incentives to lie. Parents must read and think…

When you eat or drink a lot of soy stuff, you’re also getting substantial quantities of estrogens. If you’re a man, you’re suppressing your masculinity and stimulating your “female side,” physically and mentally.

In fetal development, the default is being female. All humans (even in old age) tend toward femininity. The main thing that keeps men from diverging into the female pattern is testosterone, and testosterone is suppressed by an excess of estrogen.

Research is now showing that when you feed your baby soy formula, you’re giving him or her the equivalent of five birth control pills a day. A baby’s endocrine system just can’t cope with that kind of massive assault, so some damage is inevitable.

Soy is feminizing, and commonly leads to a decrease in the size of the penis, sexual confusion and homosexuality.

Soy Turns Boys into Homos

I've been hearing a lot of other bad things about soy products as well. I know a lot of this stuff can get confusing, but I would really avoid soy altogether.

Top 10 Detox Foods

Give your body a healthy, fresh start. Plus if you're thinking about lowering your weight, "eating clean" is a great first step. Add these 10 foods to your grocery cart and you'll get three terrific benefits:

1. Lots of super-healthy liquids to flush out the body while pouring in nutrients.

2. Fiber to keep your GI tract fit.

3. Foods that energize cleansing enzymes in the liver, your body's built-in detox center. The top 10:

Green leafy vegetables. Eat them raw, throw them into a broth, add them to juices. Their chlorophyll helps swab out environmental toxins (heavy metals, pesticides) and is an all-round liver protector.

Lemons. You need to keep the fluids flowing to wash out the body and fresh lemonade is ideal. Its vitamin C - considered the detox vitamin - helps convert toxins into a water - soluble form that?s easily flushed away.

Watercress. Put a handful into salads, soups, and sandwiches. The peppery little green leaves have a diuretic effect that helps move things through your system. And cress is rich in minerals too.

Garlic. Add it to everything - salads, sauces, spreads. In addition to the bulb's cardio benefits, it activates liver enzymes that help filter out junk.

Green tea. This antioxidant-rich brew is one of the healthiest ways to get more fluids into your system. Bonus: It contains catechins, which speed up liver activity.

Broccoli sprouts. Get 'em at your health-food store. They pack 20 to 50 times more cancer-fighting, enzyme-stimulating activity into each bite than the grown-up vegetable.

Sesame seeds. They're credited with protecting liver cells from the damaging effects of alcohol and other chemicals. For a concentrated form, try tahini, the yummy sesame seed paste that?s a staple of Asian cooking.

Cabbage. There are two main types of detoxifying enzymes in the liver; this potent veggie helps activate both of them. Coleslaw, anyone?

Psyllium. A plant that?s rich in soluble fiber, like oat bran, but more versatile. It mops up toxins (cholesterol too) and helps clear them out. Stir powdered psyllium into juice to help cleanse your colon, or have psyllium-fortified Bran Buds for breakfast.

Fruits, fruits, fruits. They're full of almost all the good things above - vitamin C, fiber, nutritious fluids, and all kinds of antioxidants. Besides, nothing tastes better than a ripe mango, fresh berries, or a perfect pear.

Common mothballs contain paradichlorobenzene and are very hazardous. They can damage your liver and kidneys. Cedar chips will repel moths. You can place the chips in some cheesecloth and hang it in the closet. Cedar chips should be available at any craft supply store. You can also use lavender, rosemary or rose petal sachets to repel moths. Another natural deterrent is dried lemon peels tied in cheesecloth.

It is also a good idea to hang a clothes moth pheromone trap in each closet to trap any male moths that sneak in.
