Clancy, James T. was born in Albany, NY. As a sergeant in Company C, he received the CMOH when in battle at Vaughn Road, VA 1 Oct 1864 he "shot the Confederate General Dunovant dead during a charge, thus confusing the enemy and greatly aiding in his repulse".



Hooper, William Beaney, the son of John Christopher Martin and Mary Ann (Reed) Hooper, was born in Willimantic, CT 14 Aug 1840 and died 16 Jan 1870. He married Margaret Lindsay Long 14 Oct 1863. As a corporal in Company L, he was credited "with the assistance of a comrade, headed off the advance of the enemy, shooting two of his color bearers; also posted himself between the enemy and the lead horses of his own command, thus saving the herd from capture" at Chamberlain's Creek, VA 31 Mar 1865. He is buried in the Old Willimantic Cemetery, Windham, CT.



Locke, Lewis, a private in Company A, he was born in Clintonville, NY and received his CMOH for "capture of a Confederate flag" at Prines Crossroads, VA 5 Apr 1865.



Porter, William, born in New York City, NY, as a sergeant in Company H, he was "among the first to check the enemy's countercharge" at Sailors Creek, VA on 6 Apr 1865.



Sagelhurst, John Christopher (1842-1907), as a sergeant in Company B, "under a heavy fire from the enemy, carried off the field a commissioned officer who was severely wounded and also led a charge on the enemy's rifle pits" during action at Hatcher's Run, VA 6 Feb 1865. He was born in Buffalo, NY and is buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo, NY.



Southard, David, born in Ocean County, NJ, he was a sergeant in Company C, receiving the CMOH for the "capture of flag; and was the first man over the works in the charge" at Sailors Creek, VA 6 Apr 1865.



Stewart, George W., as a sergeant in Company E at Paines Crossroads, VA 5 Apr 1865 he was cited for the "capture of flag".



Streile, Christian, a private in Company I, his birthplace was Germany in the year 1839. He received the CMOH for "capture of flag" at Paines Crossroads, VA on 5 Apr 1865. He died 4 Dec 1886 and is buried in the Lutheran Cemetery, Ridgewood, Queens County, NY.



Titus, Charles was born in Milltown, Middlesex County, NJ in 1838 and died 26 Mar 1921 in Belmar, NJ. He married (1) Matilda (Annie) Patterson 28 Mar 1864 in Milltown, and (2) Amelia Slater. As sergeant in Company H at Sailors Creek, VA on 6 Apr 1865 he "was among the first to check the enemy's countercharge".



Thompkins, Aaron, born 15 Feb 1844 in Orange, Essex County, NJ, he was a sergeant in Company G when during the Battle of Sailors Creek, VA on 5 Apr 1865 he "charged into the enemy's ranks and captured a battle flag, having a horse shot under him and his cheeks and shoulders cut with a sabre". He died 27 Nov 1931 and is buried in Rosedale Cemetery, Orange, NJ.



Wilson, Charles E., as a sergeant in Company A, he "charged the enemy's works, colors in hand, and had two horses shot from under him" during the Battle of Sailors Creek, VA on 6 Apr 1865. He was born in Bucks County, PA.



Wilson, John, a sergeant in Company L, he was born in England. During the action on 31 Mar 1865 at Chamberlains Creek, VA "with the assistance of one comrade, headed off the advance of the enemy, shooting 2 of his color bearers; also posted himself between the enemy and the lead horses of his own command, thus saving the herd from capture".
