Things you should know about HIV

- There are 4 body fluids that can transmit HIV from one person to another: Blood, Semen, Vaginal Secretions, and Breast Milk
- There are over 40 million people in the world living with HIV or AIDS
- There is no cure for HIV/AIDS
- There have been remarkable advances in HIV treatment/drug therapy
- It can take up to 3 months after infection for HIV antibodies to show up on a test
- Most people will have what are called flu-like symptoms within a couple of months after infection. they include: nausea, diarrhea, body aches, fevers, headaches, etc..
- It may take several years before other symptoms appear
- You can not tell by looking at someone if they have HIV
- The United Nations estimates there could be 85 million people living with HIV/AIDS by 2010
