REVOLUTION!

A Corporate Controlled Republic:

The corporations in America and around the world undermine democratic structures because they work for their own benefit. Our so called "representatives" are representatives of the corporate elite. Chosen by corporations to promote corporate interests. There is a regular flow of officials from corporate to government positions. The majority of our representatives don't work for the "good of the people." They work for the interests of big business. These people chosen by business run domestic and foreign affairs.

Why should these people that do not have the good of the people at heart, determine domestic and foreign policy for the people? The poor are continually exploited at home and around the world by American big business. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. The poor no longer have representation. This was an issue in the struggle for independence. "Taxation without representation."

Foreign policy/Imperialism:

Our soldiers that are based in foreign countries protect imperialist policies, installations, and power. These imperialist installations(a.k.a sweatshops) wouldn't need to be protected if they did not exploit the people of the world. This explains the hate generated by citizens of other nations directed towards Americans.

American government would rather have a regime in place than a democracy that works for the good of the people. If the government in place worked for the good of the people they wouldn't allow foreign investors(mostly American corporations) into their countries. Capitalism depends on a ever growing consumer base. That is the reason behind America's imperialist wars.

The investors exploit the population while the soldiers protect the investors. These soldiers give the U.S. control over the region and help maintain its the strangle-hold on the world. More control is synopsis to more money. More money for American investors equals more money for policy makers. Policy makers make policies to make more money.

Nicaragua had a good democracy in place until the U.S. intervened and threatened economic sanctions, aided the contras, and supported terrorist tactics. The U.S. stands charged with the "unlawful use of force" in its terrorist war on Nicaragua by the International Court of Justice.

Below excerpt taken from:PPS/23: Review of Current Trends in U.S. Foreign Policy by George Kennan. Published in Foreign Relations of the United States, 1948, Volume I, pp. 509-529.

"Furthermore, we have about 50% of the world's wealth but only 6.3% of its population. This disparity is particularly great as between ourselves and the peoples of Asia. In this situation, we cannot fail to be the object of envy and resentment. Our real task in the coming period is to devise a pattern of relationships which will permit us to maintain this position of disparity without positive detriment to our national security. To do so, we will have to dispense with all sentimentality and day-dreaming; and our attention will have to be concentrated everywhere on our immediate national objectives. We need not deceive ourselves that we can afford today the luxury of altruism and world-benefaction.....

We should dispense with the aspiration to "be liked" or to be regarded as the repository of a high-minded international altruism. We should stop putting ourselves in the position of being our brothers' keeper and refrain from offering moral and ideological advice. We should cease to talk about vague and... unreal objectives such as human rights, the raising of the living standards, and democratization. The day is not far off when we are going to have to deal in straight power concepts. The less we are then hampered by idealistic slogans, the better." (George Kennan headed the State Department planning staff until 1950.)

Is the present the time when we "have to deal in straight power concepts"? It looks like it when you take into mind the recent invasion of Iraq and the complete disregard of the UN. The U.S. is showing that it is the one superpower. Without the Soviet Union to stalemate its actions, what will stop the U.S. from conducting more wars of imperialism? Obviously the U.N. is not a check to U.S. power as demonstrated by recent events. Since its beginning the U.S. has shown that it will resort to the use of force to achieve its "immediate national objectives."

"The greatest purveyor of violence in the world today [is] my own government. ...[F]or the sake of the hundreds of thousands trembling under our violence, I cannot be silent." --Martin Luther King, Jr., Beyond Vietnam speech, 1967 (MLK said that when the Soviet Union still existed.)

Iraq:

Bush wants to "liberate" Iraq. hahaha. "In every Iraqi ministry they are just going to remove one or two officials and replace them with American military officers."(Mr. Abdul- Rahman deputy prime minister of the Kurdish administration. He recently had talks with the Bush administration.) "What you're going to be left with is either a military dictatorship with some kind of democratic façade, like maybe a parliament that votes while the military runs it behind the scenes ..."(Noam Chomsky on the Anti-war movement, published in The Guardian, Feb. 4. 2003, speaking on the Iraq issue).

Iraq supposedly had massive supplies of WMD but so far all that has been found are fourteen barrels in Tikrit, one of which has preliminarily tested positive for nerve and blister gas. This is all that has been found after a search of nearly a month conducted by U.S. armed forces in Iraq.

The talk coming from the Whitehouse recently is reminescent of Saddam Hussein's. The U.S. says it plans to search for the banned weapons without support and verification by UN weapons inspectors. Mohamed ElBaradei is the head of the IAEA. He reminded the U.S. government recently that the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) is: "the sole body with legal authority to verify Iraq's nuclear disarmament."

The U.N. inspectors that traveled around the Iraqi country side for several months found that the WMD infrastructure was in a state of neglect. These inspectors looked for companies where the weapons scientists could be re-organized, but could find no groups working on a WMD program.

An inspection team that included scientists from Lawrence Livermore and Los Alamos national laboratories accompanied U.N. inspectors. A U.N. official described them as coming in as hawks but exiting as doves, finding Iraq as follows: "a ruined country, not a threat to anyone." The UN official said that the extent of Iraq's WMD program may be "a few guys with paper and pencil and some computer in a back room."

The Corporate Media:

America's media is almost entirely corporate. This means that they have the power to bargain with Washington. There is a continuous flow of people between corporations, government, and the media. Corporate and media officials are the ruling class in America.

The media is like the two-faced god Janus: it pretends to triumph impartiality, while doing what benefits them the most, and that is pleasing Washington. To please Washington you definetly cannot be impartial. Take Fox News for example, it seems to be completely aligned with Washington.

The American corporate media's coverage of the war in Iraq is completely patriotic and partial as pointed out by the BBC's Director General Greg Dyke. "Personally, I was shocked while in the United States by how unquestioning the broadcast news media was during this war." Dyke said this in a speech at a University of London conference.

Dyke also said: "If Iraq proved anything, it was that the BBC cannot afford to mix patriotism and journalism. This is happening in the United States and if it continues, will undermine the credibility of the U.S. electronic news media."

"Rogue State:"

The U.S. is a "rogue state." It is so powerful that it does not have to abide by international law. The Security Council did not authorize war in Iraq, the U.S. does not pay its dues to the UN, is charged with the "unlawful use of force" without punishment, and many other infractions. Included in these infractions is the continued violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Especially so as in the case of Nicaragua.

The United States also supports terrorist regimes with monetary aid, weapons, troops, and training. These can be called "client regimes." These client regimes do what they are told and are greatly rewarded. Sometimes this relationship goes sour and we have to turn on our former ally with accusations of illegal weapons and human rights violations. Then we impose sanctions as punishment to get the nation back in line. If sanctions don't work, they usually just starve innocent civilians, we trumpet away our "idealistic slogans" and invade with the cover of "liberation" Then we can appoint officials we think will keep in line.

Civil Government:

American civil government has totally corupt policies. Instead of tax breaks that help the poor we have tax breaks for the rich, unemployment and homelessness levels are reaching record highs, we supposedly have a civilized society and yet we continue use of the death penalty, instead of trying to solve the social problems that lead to crime our government deals out harsher and harsher punishment. It is amazing that we still have not had a woman president.

Our freedom is being challenged like never before. Mr. Bush said that one of the reasons Al-Qaida attacked us was our freedom. Should we consider George W. Bush as being in league with Al-Qaida? He seems to be following its example. The Department of Homeland Security, the Patriot Act, and Terrorist Acts restrict our freedom. The government is severely cracking down on its own people, using tactics such as eavesdropping, preventative detention, and more heavily policed public areas. The media is its main tool now but soon it may be the bludgeon as we move towards more open dictatorship. The time will soon come when America's citizens are dis-illusioned and relize that they are cowering under brutal oppression.

Action!:

The time has arrived when "we the people" must oppose and stop the use of aggression. A "war on terror" will spark more terror. You can't stop violence with violence. This seems to be our most emphasized tactic though.

"what is happening to this country? When did we become a nation which ignores and berates our friends? When did we decide to risk undermining international order by adopting a radical and doctrinaire approach to using our awesome military might? How can we abandon diplomacy when the turmoil in the world cries out for diplomacy?" This was said in a speech in the senate by Senator Robert Byrd, on March 19. A day before the war on Iraq started. No one answered his questions.

The radical and doctrinaire approach" mentioned is the doctrine of military pre-emption, written up last year. This doctrine will cause nothing but more violence and turmoil in a world that has already had too much. The people of the United States and the world need to stand up and throw off the shackles of imperialism, oppression, and greed to form a world that is politically democratic, as well as economically democratic.
