The "in a nutshell" Facts-- Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone Ritchie (wow that's a long one) was born on August 16, 1958 in Bay City, Michigan. She later moved to Detriot and went to the University of Michigan on a dance scholarship. She then decided to go to NYC on nothing but $30 in her wallet and a suitcase to pursue fame. After modeling, endless no-where jobs such as Dunkin' Donuts, McDonalds, and being a coat-check girl for "The Russian Tea Room", she played drums and sang back-up vocals for a band, The Breakfast Club, and then set up a band called Emmy...then went solo. Still with me?? Good...next she got her demo played in a club-- her first hit, "Everybody", and was later signed to Sire Records by the record label's main dude while he was in his hospital bed-- he was that impressed with her. A string of hits, hair dyes, relationships, controversy, movies, albums, and two decades later, she's married with children and still kicking...er...punching. But I bet she's smiling...all the way to the bank $$$. Madonna's estimated worth?? $400 million.

Everything Madonna's done from Ms. Ciccone to Mrs. Sean Penn to Ms. Ciccone again to the now Mrs. Guy Ritchie has been considered "controversial". Who else can get away with being an author of a book called Sex one decade to a children's book author the next? Both, I add, being at the top of the charts in their unveiling? Hm... that's a smart business woman. That's one of the world's greatest entertainers. That's Madonna.
Madonna and Yoga...
"OM"...Madonna started doing yoga in '96 and now it seems EVERYONE does yoga. It's the "in" exercise. It's become too mainstream, but that's okay. It is good for meditation, I'll give it that. Not to mention great arms. "OMMMMM, Namaste"
Madonna even wrote a song on her 1998 album, Ray Of Light, called, "Shanti/Ashtangi" contributing to her yoga and sanskrit practice:
