The Goal

The plot and goals of the adventure is something that can be elusive with some players. They don't like following the Game Master's goals, they also think that the Game Master is making a contrived adventure. Well it is, all adventures are closed ended in some fashion. A couple of tricks that can be used by the Game Master follow:

bulletMake a few extra adventures and and let the players have the freedom to choose amongst them.
bulletHave situations appear that the players can't refuse (i.e. the King will throw you in jail on some false pretense if you don't go on his quest).
bulletTry to know your players and their characters well enough so you can make adventures that your players will want and won't likely refuse.
