Socials
We have organised socials for both Friday and Saturday
nights, the cost of which is covered in your £5 tournament fee.
Friday
| We will meet in the Tron, a pub just off the royal
mile, where we have a reserved room for ourselves. From here y'all can get
pissed and then stagger to your lodgings. |
Saturday is Burns night
| We have organised a meal in the evening, the
traditional haggis (haggis), neeps (turnips (or carrots in Newcastle)) and tatties (potatoes). We realise this may no be to everybody's tastes so
this dinner is optional and the cost is not included in the tournament
fee, though it won't cost much. |
| For those of you who would prefer to avoid the
haggis, the student union will have burgers, chips, sandwiches, jacket
potatoes and pizzas as well. |
| Then, seeing as its Burns night, we have a
ceilidh (traditional Scottish dancing) organised from 8-12 and then a discotheque from 12-3 playing the choicest
cuts and nu-flows around! |
| Burns night celebrates the life and work of
Scotland's most famous and over-rated poet, Robert 'Rabbie' Burns. In fact
so bad are the works of Rabbie that Scots used to torture the English by
shouting his poems across the boarder through a
megaphone. |
