I went on a trip to Island Park, Idaho in February of 2001. On this page there are some pics from the trip that I just happened to like. I'll tell the story of them as you go along down the page. Hold your mouse over the pics just to read a little caption.

The lonely road The gorgeous sights we saw Another gorgeous sight

The trip out to Island Park, from Bemidji, takes about 17-20 hours depending on who is driving and how many sleds we are hauling. My parents went out recently and hauling two snowmobiles while he was driving, my dad made it out there in 17 hours. These pics are just some that we took while we were driving down the road.

I wish I could do this

On our way to the place where we stayed, we went and stopped in a town called West Yellowstone. In this town, it is perfectly legal to ride your snowmobile right down the middle of the street as long as you abide by the traffic laws, like stop lights.

Having the whole loft in this thing to myself was great! Gorgeous place
Ahh the wonderful powers of water

This is the cabin that we stayed in the week we were there. The pictures aren't supposed to line up just to let you know. It was one of the nicest places I've ever seen. The snowmobiles are just parked outside of the cabin. (Mine's the black one on the left, bro's is behind mine, dad's is next to mine, and mom's is in the back corner.) The last pic is just my brother sitting the in hot tub that was on the deck they are standing on in the first picture. He looks like a dork there, but he's scrunching up his face. That hottub worked wonders after my accident....

I hate this thing Isn't that a lovely shade of bluish purple on my fat leg Oh wait, now it is greenish yellow!

The rock in the top picture is what caused the bruises on my fat leg. Its the same leg, just different days. The top pic is from the first day and the second, the greenish one, is from a few days later. In the top pic you can see where my snowmobile came up and hit the rock, and then there is no track marks until about 15 feet later. Thats how far I flew before I flew up, hit my thigh on the handle bars of the snowmobile, and then did two somersaults in the air and then landed on my right shoulder. As a result of that accident and another four wheeling accident, I tore my rotator cuff and had to have surgery about a month ago.

Wouldn't you think this would be cold? He's right there if you can see him Dad and a friend climbed this one Just my dad riding Before this, we had a snowball fight

These pics are just some that we took while we were riding just to show what the powder and stuff was like out there. The top pic is of my brother, second is my dad (I think), and the third is of my and my brother. Like the hat? I don't but my hair isn't really the greatest after riding all day long, but oh well. Notice just the long sleeve t-shirt? Thats how nice it was that day.

Another gorgeous sight Left to right - My Bro, me, my mom, and my dad Here's our pack

We stopped at these waterfalls and just took a few pictures. They were really beautiful and in the backdrop of it was awesome. The second pic is of my family. The third picture is a group from our same town who rode with us everyday. My mom is the one in the very front and the rest are just the other people.

It's really pretty here Everything was so dramatic - the temperature and the heights of everything There were so many huge beasts! It's just a bunch of steam to me

These are from our tour of Yellowstone. The top, I'm not really sure where it was from, the second, same deal, but the third one, that was right off the trail. Buffalo were EVERYWHERE in Yellowstone. I couldn't believe how many there were and how big they were. My brother got a little too close to one, so we had to make a quit exit one time. The last one is Old Faithful. I think it would be better to see it in the summer because all you saw in the winter was the steam because it was -28 degrees (F) when we started out and it never really warmed up. It was so cold out that day, my seat froze on my snowmobile and I couldn't even feel my hand warmers.

Now this is gorgeous They're kinda ugly, but kinda cute at the same time

These pics are just a few that we took along the road. The horses just stood there the whole time, no matter what went past them. I felt kinda bad because there wasn't a house for a mile or so. Yes, those are mailboxes in front of them. The pic with the three sun like looking things is a sun dog. It is just the sun reflecting all its colors on the snow, and then it makes a ring. We hit that on our way out between Bemidji and Fargo, ND.
