"this, above all: to thine own self be true"

yes, there's a reason shakespeare was a literary genius.

there are way too many instances today when people worry about everyone else's opinions and clothes and appearances and thoughts more than they think of themselves. there are more instances than i can count where humans lie to themselves to delude their reality or someone else's. it seems like sometimes people need someone else to lie to them to feel comfortable.

why?

i seem to be asking that question a lot lately, and rarely do i find a plausible answer. but if you had the conscience (which is very fragile, i might add) i've had, you might understand what it feels like to lie to yourself. it's different when you're lying to other people... it's indecent, but it's not as deceiving, betraying yourself. when you betray yourself, you betray everything you'll ever have.

but in the end, if someone can't face truth in its purest, most blunt and unforgiving form, including yourself, you're not worth my time.
