Wisdom for the Ages.....
In honor of German-American week (which is actually sometime in October and only a day) I will be doing a special series in which I provide a brief look at German culture while fighting the twin evils of Homesicknes and Devil Worship (aka speaking french). Today's lesson will be an excerpt from the song Griechisher Wein by Dieter Thomas Kuhn.

Today's Lesson:

Griechischer Wein
Und die altvertrauten Lieder.
Schenk noch mal ein,
Denn ich spuer die Sehnsucht wieder.
In dieser Stadt
Werd ich immer nur ein Fremder sein, und allein.

Greek wine,
And the old trusted songs.
Pour another glass,
I feel the yearning again.
In this city
I will always be a stranger, and alone.

That's all for today. And remember, everyone gets lonely sometimes, so be kind. But watch out! If they are French, it might just be a trick to corrupt you and devour your soul.
