Once upon a time, I was involved in a discussion about what was it that made "genius"; the word genius has been bantered about from pillar to post, but the one thing that seems to stick in the phrase "Musical Genius" is this:
"Somebody who was able to change the way their Instrument sounded"
This limits the choices and rightly so; another phrase is:
Those that stand the test of time .. seen 'em come ... seem 'em go, but they're still standing".
So, given these parameters there are some obvious ones ....
Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Rich, The Beatles, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles davis, Igor Stravinsky, Dmitri Shostakovich, Frank Zappa.
What I would like to do here is give you a list of the albums that simply stand the test of time.
In a world of indecision, these albums to me, are definitive; some are flawed gems, panned mercilessly by critics at the time, yet adored by fans and still "sell" to this day, and the only reason some of these people are not still touring on Earth is because they're gigging in Heaven, and well, maybe the other place as well.
