Getting Songs and Music Videos on IRC

You will need an IRC client application:

Windows: mIRC
Linux: X-Chat
MacOS: Ircle

For music albums, we will be using the #cmp3 channel on the DALnet network so when you set up your IRC program be sure to choose a nick (screenname) and set it to connect to the DALnet network.

If you are using Windows then you need to download mIRC using the link at the top of the page. After you have downloaded it you need to register it. To do this you need to find the mIRC program on your computer which you have just downloaded and open it up. When you do this a box should pop up asking you for some information. It will ask you for things like your full name, you nickname (screenname) that you will be using in IRC, your email address and so on. Make sure that you keep the connection on the DALnet (should be the default one) dont change it. Once you have fill out all the information it ask for click on the connect botton that should be in the middle of that box. Then move on to the next step which is registering your nick.

In order to download songs you will need to register your nick using NickServ

Every additional time you connect you will need to log into your nick using:

/NickServ identify your_password

Then you will want to do this to enter the #cmp3 channel:

/join #cmp3

Just watch the chat scroll by and look for an album that interests you. You will need to remember the username and package number that you would like. You will then need to allow the user to send you files using:

/dccallow +username

/msg username xdcc send #packagenumber

If it will allow you download then it will pop up a box asking your approval on the transfer. You just accept and you're good.

If it puts you in queue it will periodically tell you what number in line you are and a general estimated time you will have to wait for the transfer. Be sure to stay in the channel until you receive your file or your order will be cancelled by the server.
