Genki's Description:

Within the intense quest for the four Orbs lies a unique battle system where you can capture hundreds of monsters into cocoons and train them from hatchlings to become your own greatest weapons. My Current Review:

One thing I should mention is the anime style graphics created by none other then Katsuya Kondou, who also did the character design for "Princess Mononoke". I'll admit, the characters are awesome looking. They did pretty good on the graphics. The Gameplay itself is pretty cool. It's like Pokemon, only ten times better, a less childless storyline, and no gay names. The customizing you can do with your characters is pretty fun, and the leveling is endless since you start over each time you merge. The game play is fun for a while, but you find it to get somewhat boring after a few weeks of playing it. The merging and evolving process makes this game awsome. The replay value for this game is pretty bad, seeing as how there's no changes in story line and no real point to play it again.

Bringing your characters to a higher level takes a few hours, but it can be fun. The levels always regenerate with different beasts and items, so going through a forest three or four times minimum is a must. It's always fun to watch your character evolve and then trying to decide how to merge them. I do admit that once I got to the last boss I was pretty tired of the game.

The two player mode lacks something, though. You have to have characters that you've merged once or twice in order to actually fight without it ending in a draw. What they could have used is a function that lets you choose how many rounds you have. Ten rounds just doesn't seem like enough, but I may be wrong. The game also puts on an appeal for younger players, but it's still fun, none-the-less.

Story wise, this game is very lacking. The game wasn't made to engross you in to a deep story with plot twists and turns, therefore, if you're looking for a story like Final Fantasy, or Suikoden or Ogre Battle or something, this isn't the game for you. It was made to draw you into a unique fighting system and beast merging system, so there's no rush to bring the story along. Each forest has a character that is trying to beat you to the orb, which has a small story to it, my favorite story is probably the one with the small blue dragon, Cure. That's the water forest.

Graphics: 5
Gameplay: 3.5
Story: 1.5
Audio: 4
Camera Angels: 2.5

Over all I give this a 3.5 out of 5.
