As you probably already know Abusing The Word is a hardcore punk band from Upstate NY. We have a demo out and will be doing a split LP with the Buffalo band The Young Ones this spring or summer. Update 3/30/03- The Young Ones split was going nowhere, both recording and planning wise. So I have, against better judgement probably, decided to start Next Stop Records again. Next Stop Records was the name I put on all the tapes I put out in the Medina area in the late 90's as well as the Fire In The State stuff. But it was never a REAL label in the sense that I didn't distro it or send out alot of copies to zines or anything. It was for Medina kids mostly. This time I am going to try to work hard at getting the stuff I do "out there" so to speak. The first release is going to be an ABUSING THE WORD/EVIL ROBOT US' split CD ep. ATW is going to record this week and depending how it turns out will determine the release date of the CD. The plan now is late May/early June. So anyone who wants to help or hear about progress of this please email me. In other news the Abusing the Word/ Project Grizzly tour is coming up soon. Update 3/10/03- We have been playing shows here and there (see shows page) as well as practicing new songs. We have 6 new ones as of right now. The split with the Young Ones is up in the air right now, mainly because the Young Ones are having some band problems. If it doesn't happen Alex has told us he will put something out with us anyway. Recording has not happened yet...waiting for word from Fredonia. I am having some stickers made, they should be around in the spring....the April tour is coming along. About 3/4 is booked and now transportation is the only problem. Having two bands full of poor people does not boad well for touring. If we can get it together it should be great though, I'll post dates when and if it's all confirmed. ATW will be featured in a zine done by a young lady by the name of Daphnie (sorry if that is spelled wrong)from Oswego. That is cool, details when I see it. Update 6/5/03...........Well, we made it through tour and had a mighty good time. We ended up taking Benji's van- a 1977 Dodge Tradesman Van. Thanks to Benji for that one. We and Project Grizzly rocked in Buffalo, Providence RI, New Paltz NY, Some Town on the Ocean in NJ (sorry), oh yeah Island Heights, Edgewater MD, Sterling VA, Chapel Hill NC, Louisville KY (sort of), Bloomington IN (thanks Tim), and Coloumbus OH. On the way from Columbus to the next date (Oswego NY) the drive shaft fell off the van as we drove down the I-90. Scary but we were okay. So we missed Oswego and what would have been the final day in Rochester, but considering the age of the van and the fact it was hauling 8 people and a trailer I think we did OK. There are plenty of funny tour moments to relay but that will wait till I feel like typing them......We finished recording and the split with Evil Robot Us' should be out mid-July. Sounds pretty decent. Joe is back in Medina for awhile working so we are practicing at Sigma again. Have some new tunes, waiting to play some shows....nothing new on that front as of now..................................................................................................................................................................
Update 9/08/03- Not much new. We have done very little this summer. Joe had other commitments and then hurt his hands on a bike trip, so he cannot play drums until Octoberish. The ATW/Evil Robot Us' cd is done, but the covers still are not. We still hope to have a CD release show when it is. We may do a short one week tour w/No Time Left in November.............................................................................................................................................................Update 1/12/04- We just got back from a week and a half northeast tour with Robot Has Werewolf Hand. It was very fun, we played some good shows and got the CD "out there". Plus we got to see and hang out with Robot every night, so that was pretty damn cool. Highlights included Boston, Portland, NYC, and Allentown. But as I said there were no "bad" shows and it was great seeing all the cities and "the kids". UPDATE 9/04-Aaron says this web site looks lame and wants to have someone do a new one. Fine with me, but since he never actually has it done I suppose I'll keep updating here. So...Our CD release show is Aug. 14th at 11pm at the Mohawk. Come see us. We will then leave for a week tour with stops in the northeast. Joe has been gone all summer, so not much has been up. We have a few good shows coming in Sept. and Oct. so stay tuned, check out the links. UPDATE 11/04- our 7" is out on Art of the Underground, check artoftheunderground.com for info & tunes. We have played a few shows in the Buffalo area and one in Rochester in the past months. This January will see Abusing the Word doing a two week midwest tour, should be fun. Again, Aaron keeps saying he's doing a website but it hasn't happened...so this is all ya got for now.
