First keep in mind there is a significant investment involved when you first begin. The price tag from this hobby starts at around $1,000 and goes as high as you'll allow it. However, new recruits will be given time to "kit up" and available equipment will be loaned out as necessary. Second, keep in mind that as a unit we try to do two events a month through May to October, with an push for attendance at at least one of the two, and at least one training camp, event or meeting during the other months. Third, keep in mind it can be at times physically demanding.
Recruits will be given 6 months to a year to "kit up". Exceptions to this can be granted by the majority of the membership. Recruits will be assigned a "veteran" to take them under his wing and make him feel welcome. He will also look out for the "fresh fish" on the field and be a consultant to the recruit when purchasing equipment and uniforms. Not to mention a friendly face within the unit!
