RETREAT HOUSE

We would like to welcome you to share our prayerful space at Our Lady Queen Monastery.

The Rule he wrote begins with the word:

LISTEN

That is what we invite you to do here. All of our lives are busy and full.  Everyone, even monks and nuns, needs to take time to step away from the daily demands and slow down, be quiet and listen.  Sometimes it is very hard to do that in your regular surroundings.  The phones, door bell, piles of projects in are all waiting to be taken care of.  We would like to offer you a prayerful space to listen to the Lord without the things that pull at us.  A space that the Lord can more easily fill with Himself.  Even centuries ago men and women visited monasteries to share in the atmosphere of silence and prayer.  People of every age have needed to take time to listen to the Lord.

St. Benedict also taught us in his Rule that when a guest comes to the monastery, Christ is welcomed in them.  And so, we welcome you!

THINGS YOU MAY WANT TO KNOW:

We offer you the quiet space of the monastic grounds and chapel.

We invite you to share in any of the Liturgy and prayer the monastic community has in the chapel.

We do not give any directed retreats but if someone wants to meet with a  Sister during their stay, that can be arranged.

The chapel is open from 6:15 AM till 7:30 PM during the day for private prayer.

While on retreat here you may borrow books from the library.

We ask each retreatant to respect the solitude and silence of anyone else making a retreat during their stay.

The Sisters will make every effort to provide you with the same.

The Sisters will provide your main meal of the day - this is served immediately after the 12:30 PM Hour of the Divine Office called Sext.

Breakfast and the evening meal are prepared by the retreatant in the retreat house.  Each is equipped with a kitchen and has supplies for these meals.  If you have a special diet we ask you to bring whatever you need with you.  Each Retreat House is equipped with heat and air-conditioning.

We do not have any set fee for making use of our retreat facilities.  This is to

enable anyone to be able to come away for a while.  If you are able to make a donation to the monastery, we are very grateful.  It is the gifts of others that enable this community of prayer to exist.
