Information on Self Confidence

If lacking self-confidence, you are unable to act the way you would like (you become immobilized). If you feel you are lacking in self-confidence look at :
~~~Your Attitudes
~~~Your Beliefs
~~~You Behavior
Self-confidence is both the way you feel and the way you behave. Therefore, you CAN practice to improve it.
TO DEVELOP SELF-CONFIDENCE, REMEMBER:
  • Self Confidence begins with your own attitude, only you can determine how you think about a certain situation. It can be self-defeating or positive.
  • Self expectations and self confidence go hand-in-hand. Therefore, start expecting to be effective, succeed and not worry how others think of you.
  • Self confidence comes from the Self, not from others. Do not count on others for approval. If you do, your self confidence desire rests with others.
  • Competition is not a confidence builder. If you are constatntly comparing yourself to others, you will only lessen your feelings of strength.
  • All fear is internal. Youu may be thinking fearful thoughts.
  • People respect strength. If you become stricly a "yes" person, those who you are trying to please will find you weak.
  • The key to self-dconfidence is action. Get rid of onertia and replace it with action. This is the cornerstone of effective confidence building.
    TO SUSTAIN SELF-CONFIDENCE, FOLLOW THESE GENERAL GUIDELINES:
    1. Don't expect to be successful at every effort. If failure should occur, do not confuse lack of success with your worth as a human being.
    2. You don't have to be perfect in order to have self-confidence.
    3. Stop reviewing past for reeasons why you can't be effective today.
    4. Give yourself rewards for mastering new self-confident behaviour.
    5. Adopt confidence building behavior gradually by setting minimal achievable goals and then gradually increasing into more difficult tasks.
    6. Stop asking permission when permission is npt necessary. (Instead of saying, "Is it all right if we plan to..." choose to say, "Let's plan to...")
    7. Become a confronter in a firm but non-aggressive way.
    8. Stop putting yourself down. Eliminate saying and thinking..."I can't...I'm not really smart enough...I don't know how."
    DEVELOP CONFIDENCE IN YOURSELF, THE CHOICE IS YOURS!
    Are You Growing and Blooming Where You Are Planted? By Rev. Barbara McAdams-Wegner.
    There was once a tiny raindrop hanging around in a small dark cloud waiting to come down to earth to water a plant and help it to grow. He knew he wasn't very big, but thought he could make a difference.
    He looked down and saw a small withered flower that was in much need of water. He let go of the cloud and fell upon the drought stricken flower. He was so excited that he had the chance to help the little flower. However, the flower was not impressed. It needed more than one raindrop to water its roots. The flower asked the raindrop if he had more friends that could come down and help. The tiny raindrop sent out a cry for help, all of a sudden the sky seemed to open up and there was water everywhere. The withered flower was uprooted and swept down the hillside where it came to rest against some rocks at the edge of a stream. The flower became angry at the tiny raindrop and his friends for causing it to be uprooted and deposited in an unfamiliar place.
    However, as time passed it began to flourish and grow bigger than it thought possible. Now the change didn't seem so traumatic and the flower began to think of the place it came from. It remembered how dry its roots were. Without water it would surely have died. It began it give thanks to God for the tiny raindrop and all the other raindrops and everything they did to help. Now it was able to grow and bloom as God had intended.
    Are you growing and blooming where you are planted?
