Letitia Anne Gander . May 12th 1986-July 7th 2003

Letitia was born 8lbs. 12 Oz. on the morning of May 12th 1986. She died at the age of 17 in a motor cycle accident. She had been wearing a helmet but the impact was fatal. She slipped into a coma and was pronounced dead three days later. She was a very healthy baby and always smiling. Letitia started figure skating at the age of 6 and continued on her quest for stardom winning various achievements including four Gold medals at competitions and 2 Silvers. Letitia loved dogs and all animals. At the age of 13 Letitia was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder for unknown reasons. Various doctors tended to her and concluded unsuccesfull. Her mother decided to try a different medication that a friend suggested, they tried 2 months of the medication and her doctor was amazed by the results. Letitia enrolled in the school basketball team, as well as gymnastics. She was a very very popular young girl. She dreamt of one day being a musical composer as she had a very lovely voice among her many other talents. Her friends described her as, "weird, funny, original, beautiful". Sometimes she would make these expressions that looked so weird it would make even the saddest cry laughing. When someone was down, she would think of some creative way of making things better. Be it running down their street naked to wearing underwear on her head. She wouldn't even wince. She stood up for what she believed in, and knew when was appropriate to be serious. She was very understanding and supportive of all her friends and family through their thick and thin. What made this occurence so horrible for me was, thinking back to the days when the two of us would discuss death. She told me the only thing she was ever scared of was to die, and that she hopes she would die in her sleep as an old woman. She said she wouldn't want to have to take a lot of pills everyday to stay alive. She said she couldn't imagine not breathing. She was 17 years old. But the seventeen years she lived, she lived to the extreme. Everyone that knew her, was blessed to know her. To share those moments with her. To discover the mystery behind her smile. To hear the gentle tone in her voice, to see the sparkle in her eyes.// To be loved by Letitia was to be loved by an angel. She taught many to never take advantage of life, to always live not only for the moment, but for the "millisecond".// She taught me to laugh at silly things, to really smell the roses, to "feel the skin your in". She would say, "Dania, don't go feeling sorry for yourself, life's too short to wear smudges"./ We will all remember Dear Letitia and hold her in our hearts, and every waking moment of my life, I'll keep thinking back to all the wonderful times, and all the brilliance she brought into my life.//// I'll miss you.
