Making your map perfect:

First of all, you can change the texture of you landscape. Select some squares, go to Edit>>Texture and select a texture that you like. Now you can create many different types of landscapes. You can also change the texture of the water and of the sky.

If you think weather will help to make your landscape look more interesting or realistic, go ahead, and mess around with Weather menu. I am planning to add more tweaks there, so you can combine snow and rain, change intensity, and other parameters.

If you go to View menu and check Lighting. You can see the appearance of you map is changed. This light depends on the two planets that spin in the sky. By changing them, you will change the light color.

To seamlessly blend the sky and the ground use the fog option. To turn it on, go to View and check Draw Fog. You can change the color and density of the fog to make it look more real.
