Alexander James

Alexander James is here!
He was born Jan. 21st at 3:48am at Mercy Hospital. He weighed 8 lbs, 4 oz and was 20 1/2 inches long.

Feb. 21
He is a month old today, and still doesn't sleep through the night. (sigh) He's starting to smile and stay awake more often during the day, and he's getting better at holding up his head when he's laying on his stomach.

March 25
He rolled from his stomach to his back a few days before his 2 month birthday. And despite getting 4 shots at his doctor's appointment last Monday, Alex is an extremely happy baby. I had pictures to prove it, but the camera program got messed up and now I have no 2 month pictures.
I got a few using the video part of the camera. It's a major pain, but it works.

Alex's 4 months old now and just had his doctor's appointment. He got 4 more shots, which he did pretty well with, all things considering. He likes to sit up and rarely lets himself be reclined anymore. When he's on the floor on his playmat he'll scoot himself in a circle, so he's going to be mobile soon. He's started to eat rice cereal and sits quite well in his high chair (with the aid of a couple blankets). He's sleeping through the night every night now and that means I get more sleep too. And I swear he knows he's the cutest thing ever. He's starting to watch the cat more and one of the best games for both of them is blowing bubbles. Alex watches as Gabe swats and kills the bubbles. It's great entertainment for everybody. :)

Feb. 21:
Gabriel has taken Alex's arrival very well, despite some minor jealousy. He still thinks he's the prince of the apartment, and as long as he doesn't get too pushy with the baby, everything's going to be fine. I'm happy to say that Gabe will run up and make sure Alex is okay whenever he cries.

March 25:
We're having a few dominance issues with Gabe and Alex. Nothing too serious, so don't worry. We're just keeping a close eye on them together.

May 25:
Gabe's gotten much better about Alex. Occasionally when Alex's on the floor, Gabe will come up and sniff him, but usually he just ignores him. He no longer gets in the crib, so we're not too worried about that anymore and we bought a spray bottle just in case he decides to do something else wrong.
We've switched him to a new food recently: Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul. Wonderful stuff, and Gabe loves it. Almost immediately, I've seen an increase in energy in him (which isn't always a good thing. . . playing with both the baby and the cat can be exhausting). They've got dog food too! The feed store sells it in Anoka, and the site has a store finder on it too. A six pound bag of cat food cost $8 so it was well worth it.
