I've noticed that there are a lot of characters that wear sunglasses on white wolf. No biggy. Heck, even in winter - the glare off the snow is bright. But the problem I have with it is that they're mostly vampires, and therefore, only out at night. Yes, there are idiots amongst other games that are equistupid - like mages going around in sunglasses at night for no apparent reason other than to look cool.
I don't care if your character has red eyes (Note: There is no flaw called red eyes, but it is possible through manipulation of other flaws. Please keep this in mind when naming flaws on your character sheet), or glowing eyes or whatnot. If you're one of those idiots running around with big expensive guns, leather clothes, 10pack a day smokers, then they can probably afford to buy some god damn contacts. It works better. It's a much better cover. If I see someone walking around with sunglasses on at night, I grow suspicious until I see their cane tapping along the ground, indicating they're BLIND! If I noticed slight eye color change, IF, then I would think "Hey. They've got some groovy contacts on the go." Welcome to the modern world!
What's worse is that none of these people seem to take any penalty for these vision impairing mirror shades that have become the popular choice. (Dude, wear blue sunglasses and we won't be able to tell your eyes are red, but you still will be able to see). In fact, these people seem to see more than most. Curious that. When I inquired, I was told that they have such things as auspex to make up for it. Yeah, sure. This guy is sitting down in a bar, music blaring and looking around the room like nothing's wrong? Sorry, you'd go deaf in club fetish! "I don't go into clubs" What's your point? A car drives up the street you'll be collapsing in pain, grabbing your ears - why did humans have to drive such loud beasts!?
Ok, so you have glowing eyes and contacts just don't work. Fine, use sunglasses. But also keep in mind that, as per stated in the flaw, you also have to take a perception penalty for your glowing eyes. This, along with the sunglasses, is going to make it a +2 difficulty, meaning you're noticing NOTHING when it comes to visual perception. That's a difficulty of 8! Do NOT take a perception specialty in the visual field with this, please? It's just not plausable.
