I am asked this question from time to time by people, most of whom do not ask the question because they are truly interested, but because they are bored. This annoys me, ki, in fact I find the question itself, when asked by such people, to be insulting, and it anger's me. I want to say, any number of curses followed by a quick killing. I am not patient with the foolish, or the stupid.

However, the question itself is easy to answer, though perhaps difficult for those poor fools who know nothing of what it is to be a man or a woman. Poor fools who are weak, prideless, powerless people who go through thier tiny, insignificant lives without ever knowing what it is to truly live.

For these poor fools I give them the words of Gor:
"You may judge and scorn Goreans if you wish. Know as well, however, that they judge and scorn you. They fulfill themselves as you do not. Hate them for thier pride and power. They will pity you for your shame and weakness." - Beasts of Gor, page 11

For those who actually are interested in an answer, who truly want to know. I shall answer your question. "What is Gor?" you ask? The answer is simple, though you may not like what you hear, I care not if you like what you hear or not.

Gor is a world. A world in which men, true Men, are not ashamed of being Men, where women do not deny that they are women. Where masculinity is something to take pride in, not a joke or a character defect, and where femininity is something natural and prized, not an outdated concept.

It is a place where a Man can be what he was intended by nature to be.... a Man. A Man who is Proud, Couragous, un-afraid to Fight, un-afraid to Live and Die, un-afraid to take what he wants, a Man who is dominace personified.

It ia also a place where a Woman can be what she was intended by nature to be.... a Woman. A Woman who knows her place in the world and accepts it, who takes pride in the fact that she is wanted by a Man, where she can give herself completely - in every way possible - to a Man, where submission is natural to her - as it should be - and she prides herself in it, a Woman who is submission personified.

It is a world where being who and what nature made you is expected. It is a place where being who and what you are , without apology and without regret, is something to take Pride in, not feel guilty about.

It is a place where Men, True Men, make of themselves what they can, where Men strive to succeed, where Men are each unique, not carbon copies produced in mass numbers from an ill-fitting mold. Where a True Man takes what he wants, when he wants it, and damn any that get in his way.

Gor is a place where individualism, uniqueness, differences are expected and appreciated, not clumsily molded into one messy, boring cultural nothingness that produces exactly that....... nothing, at least, nothing that could ever be considered valuable.

It is a place where the differences between Culture and Gender, and the unique qualities of each, are recognized as what they are, indisputable facts, and where those unique qualities are expected and celebrated, not limited or stifled in a pathetic attempt to make all equal and the same. An act which destroys a Culture and a human as a lingering disease destroys the body. Where the very suggestion of such an act is heresy and the realm of the mad.

Gor is a place where technology has not been allowed to eclipse or replace the greatness that is Man. Where society, religion, philosophy and technology are at peace with nature, not at war with it.

It is a place where True Men would never be content to live a long life filled only with frustration, dissatisfaction and confusion from being forced to be what their very nature rages that they are not, where it is demanded that they be content with what boon is given them by a society that controls every aspect of their lives, a society that dictates what is safe, expected, good and allowed. Instead Gor is a place where True Men seek to live the short years that nature has provided them in a manner which matches the true nature of man, and which glorifies the human spirit.

It is a place where ideals such as Honesty, Courage, Responsibility, Loyalty, Integrity and Honor are not lonely words lost in a sea of lies and deception created by a society out of control, caught up in a rush of modern life, but are instead are the foundation, heart and soul of a Man, and the true measure of the life that he lives.

It is a place where a Man would rather live a few short years proudly on his feet, facing all that can be thrown at him with Pride and Courage, than live a long life spent on his knees meekly accepting the blows that rain down upon him like a beaten dog.
