Door Hinges

There are some bogus '55-59 reproduction upper and lower door hinges floating around. I found out the hard way that they won't fit in the stock hinge pockets and there's no way to modify that pocket. If you buy reproduction hinges, be certain to measure their thickness before removing your old hinges.

3" Exhaust

I recently went from a 2.5" to a 3" exhaust from the headers back. It's one of the best performance improvements I've ever made on any of my vehicles. I couldn't believe the increase in power. Mufflers are generic 14" 2-chamber aluminized, same as a Flowmaster 40 series if you don't want to pay for their name and the associated advertising/promotion budget. Nice rumble at idle, very quiet until I want something to happen, and then it's that great roar of a big block, close to open header sound.

Total cost was $260 from the headers back (no tailpipes) and included header flanges.
