Ships
So you want to buy a ship do you? Well, first, let's start off with the frame of your ship.
Frames:
Small Frame, holds 2 people: 20' long, 10' deep, basic fighter 10 tons max - For every 250 Speed, gain 1 dodge. Costs 500 gil
Medium Frame, holds 5 people: 50' long, 15' deep, basic all purpose ship 25 tons max - For every 500 Speed, gain 1 dodge. Costs 1,000 gil
Large Frame, holds 20 people: 100' long 30' deep, two decks, battleship 100 tons max - For every 750 Speed, gain 1 dodge. Costs 2,500 gil
Extra Large Frame, Practically unlimited: 300' long, 50' deep, four decks, star destroyer 500 tons max, cannot land on planets - For every 1,250 Speed, gain 1 dodge. Costs 5,000 gil
Next we move on to what you want your hull to be made of, prices are listed below.
Hull coverings:
Reinforced Steel(RS) - The original armor. Not the strongest, but comparatively light.
Titanium Reinforced Steel(TRS) - Stronger than regular steel, but still fairly light.
Titanium Alloy(TA) - Very strong, but rather heavy.
Depleted Uranium(DU) - Incredibly strong, can withstand a lot of punishment but is very heavy, takes away one dodge.
You must have a Titanium Reinforced or better hull to handle hyperspace flight.
Small Frame
Reinforced Steel- 500 damage - .5 tons 500 gil
Titanium Reinforced Steel- 1,000 damage 1 ton 1,000 gil
Titanium Alloy- 1,500 damage 1.5 tons 1,500 gil

Generators, you may have up to two generators on your ship, unless specified otherwise:
Solid Fuel Generator - A generator which burns solid fuel, producing power, extremely lightweight. Must be refilled between flights (can support up to 2 beam weapons and 2 missile banks along with a shield generator) 1 ton costs 500 gil
Cold Fusion Generator- Newly perfected technology, cold nuclear fission cannot be done in large amounts, but the reactor is still extremely heavy, never needs recharging. ( can support up to 4 beam weapons and 3 missile banks along with a shield generator) 2 tons costs 2,000 gil
Solar Power Cells - Bulky due to the large solar panels and batteries, must be given time to recharge between flights. (can support up to 5 beam weapons and 4 missile banks, along with a shield generator ) 5 tons costs 1,000 gil
Hydrogen Reactor - a super-charged hydrogen filter that allows for even faster travel times and manueverablity that also enhances the power of weaponry loaded in the ship. Never needs recharging. (Can support 12 beam weapons and 9 missile banks along with a shield generator, due to the incredible explosive power of one of these engines, only one is allowed per ship.)25 tons costs 5,000 gil
Nuclear Fission - Takes up a huge amount of space, can only fit in an extra large ship, but is also the only generator capable of powering such a behemoth, never needs recharging, but if stressed too much can overheat. 100 tons ( can support 15 beam weapons and 6 missile banks, along with a shield generator, only one allowed per ship.) costs 10,000 gil
Note: Hydrogen and Nuclear Reactors cannot be combined, due to the fact that if one were to melt down, it could cause a chain reaction leading to what would basically turn out to be an enormous hydrogen bomb going off.
Engines, small ships use one, medium ships use two, large ships use 4, extra large use 10:
Impulse Engine- basic engine for maneuvering, not very fast, incapable of interplanetary travel. .5 tons costs 100 gil
Plasma Drive- faster than an impulse with more maneuverability, capable of interplanetary travel in one week. 1 ton costs 500 gil
Tachyon Drive- much faster drive, adds one dodge, capable of interplanetary travel in four days( To fly a Tachyon Drive ship in combat you must have recieved training on Sentinel III). 1.5 tons costs 1,000 gil
Hyperspace Drive- Useless in normal combat, interplanetary travel in 1 day. Cannot land on a planet with these engines with any landing gear. .5 tons costs 700 gil
Landing Gear:
Direct Landing Gear- All ships come equipped with these. They allow for landing at a spaceport and come free with the ship's frame.
Terrian Landing Gear For landing where there is no spaceport but can be used for landing at spaceports as well. Due to the sheer size of large and extra-large ships, they cannot use them, leaving only small and meduim framed size ships with the ability to land using these. Impulse drive is also needed otherwise you would land to fast and be destroyed. .5 tons. Costs 500 gil.
Shields:
To date, only one form of shield generator has been invented. Using a strong electromagnetic field it can disable the detonating mechanisms of missiles and completely diffuse the energy of a laser. However, due to the nature of the field it is limited in the amount of power that can be put into it due to the fact that too much power will cause an electromagnetic pulse and completely disable all electrical systems on the ship. Also it is impossible to combine two shields at once because the electromagnetic fields will cancel eachother out. As the surface area that the shield must cover grows larger, the blocking abilities of the shield before it shuts down due to overheating grows weaker. Therefore on a small ship it can block seven attacks, a medium five, a large four, and an extra large only three before it shuts down. It cuts the damage done by a weapon in half. The ship isn't hit by the actualy weapon, but the internia and force behind the blow still damages the ship. 2 tons costs 700 gil
Weapons: Weapons can be divided into three sub-categories, beam weapons, grappler arms, and missiles.
Beam Weapons:
Laser - fires a small beam of intense light, causing some damage (100 damage per shot) .5 tons costs 100 gil
Plasma Gun - fires a shot of supercharged plasma, causing greater damage ( 250 damage per shot)2 tons costs 500 gil
Tachyon Ray - faster than light particles fired in a concentrated stream, causing major damage (500 damage per shot) 2.5 tons costs 1,000 gil
Beam Cannon - Several lasers firing at once, forming into one larger beam (1,000 damage per shot, cannot be mounted on small frames, counts as 5 beam weapons for energy considerations) 5 tons costs 1,000 gil
Missiles: Missiles in missile banks don't add extra weight because the banks already compensate for the weight of the missiles. Any extra missiles the player may want can be stored in the cargo bay, but they add to the ships weight.
Stinger Missiles - Like a bee sting, small but painful, up to 10 may be carried per bank, and 10 can be fired per bank at a time. (50 damage per shot) .5 tons per bank costs 100 gil for launcher, 50 gil per missile. Each missile weighs a .25 tons out of the missile bank. They are so fast and agile that they can't be dodged. If used in a combination of weapons, the rest of the weapons used can still be dodged. If the rest are dodged, then the 1/2 bonus is not added to the damage done, only the base damage done by the missiles.
Photon Torpedo - It does a fair amount of damage, and due to the electromagnetic photons it is charged with it cannot be blocked by a shield, however these missiles are large and bulky, so the amount that may be carried is limited. (750 damage, 1 missile bank for a small ship, 2 for medium, 4 for large, and 10 for Extra Large ships.) 2 missiles per bank. 2 tons per bank costs 1,000 gil for launcher, 500 gil per missile. Each missile weighs .5 ton outside of the missile bank.
Halcyon Missile - A missile carrying a Very heavy payload, and the price reflects it. (4,000 damage per shot, 1 missile bank per small ship, 1 for meduim, 2 for large, 3 for extra large) 1 Missile per bank. 1 ton per bank costs 10,000 gil for Launcher, 5,000 gil per missle. Each missile weighs 1 tons out of the missile bank.
Tactical Nuclear Missile - The big one, years ago these weapons nearly wiped out the entire human population, therefore they are banned and cannot be found except under special circumstances. Due to the fact that the nuke releases an electro-magnetic pulse even as it detonates, shields cannot block it. Only a small ship equipped with a Tachyon Drive can escape the blast of one of these missiles, so any other ship that fires one will take as much damage as the target. (10,000 damage) attatched to outside of ship temporarily, weight is not considered
Grappler Arms:
Originally mounted on ships for loading and other menial tasks, it was the Space Pirates who first put these to offensive use. Even without a weapon they can still cause fair damage to the hull of ship (50 damage per blow, unarmed). Two arms may be mounted on a small ship, four on medium and large. Anyone with aviation may operate two grappler arms at a time, however you must have trained at the grappler academy on Sentinel III to operate more, and also to operate certain forms of weaponry. Extra large ships can mount grappler arms, but due to the bulkiness and slowness of the ship they are basically useless. There are a small amount of weapons available that may be used by grappler arms. 1 ton per arm costs 2,000 gil per arm
Grappler Weapons:
Beam Gun - Held in one hand, this weapon is like a more powerful version of the laser, however because it has its own power source it can only hold enough charge for 10 shots. (1,000 damage per shot) 2 tons costs 5,000 gil, 1,000 gil per battery
Heat Axe - A large conductor is placed along the blade of this axe, then high voltage energy is run through it, heating it to an incredible temperature. (250 damage per strike.) 1 ton costs 1,000 gil
Energy Whip - A series of long metal segments, with enormous electric current flowing through them that may be used like a whip. You must have recieved Sentinel III training to use this weapon due to its complexity (750 damage per attack) 2.5 tons costs 2,000 gil
Heat Claw - This can be specially mounted onto the grappler arm, and unlike the other weapons, cannot be torn away by a skillfull enough pilot. (100 damage per attack)1 ton per arm attatched costs 700 gil per claw.
And in case you want to transport something...
Cargo Holds:
Extra Small: Used to hold an extra person or supplies, holds .5 tons but weighs .5 tons
Small: Can hold up to 10 tons of cargo, but takes up 15 tons worth of weight
Medium: Can hold up to 30 tons of cargo, but takes up 40 tons worth of weight
Large: Can hold up to 150 tons of cargo, but takes up 200 tons worth of weight
Note, if you have extra weight allowance left over on your ship, you can have new additions installed at no extra cost. However, if you wish to have something removed it will cost 1,000 gil per part.
When you have decided on all the options you want, post it on the Shop board with the word "Ship" in the title. With the incredible feats of mechanized manufacture available nowadays, the manufacture times of ships are as follows:
Small Framed Ship- 1 day
Medium Framed Ship- 2 days
Large Framed Ship- 4 days
Extra Large Framed Ship- 2 weeks
With the skill of Engineering and 300 more gil, you can cut the amount of building time in half for your ship, by helping with the manufacturing.
Also, for space combat, the smaller ship goes first, if the ships are of equal size, the one with the fastest engine goes first.
As to the ships that already exist, their classifications are as follows. All of them come with shields.
