The Rules
Hello and welcome to Cloud and Sephiroth's Anime RPG! For all of you who are new, this site is an online, text-based, anime related, roleplaying game (RPG). Everyone is welcome, except those who's age lies below 13 years of age (due to possible vulgur language and inappropriate content). The game revolves around the interaction of anime (Japanese animation) characters, played by real people like yourself! These people write out storylines for their character (called roleplaying), while training and striving to become stronger to be able to conquer their enemies and survive in a universe filled with strange, wonderful, and dangerous things. These stories are posted on our message board, the backbone of the game. Much of the RPG happens on AOL's Instant Messenger, such as battles, spars, and OOC interaction, so it is preferred that you have this program installed on your computer. Another element, though not used as often, is our chatroom. Here, meetings, battles, chocobo races, and other events can be arranged. The roster page is where you can find a list of all current characters, each with their own profile page. It's important that you read the rules before getting started, so that there is no confusion in the future. Finally, although we call this a roleplaying game, it is not really a game in its sense at all. No one wins, and it's here for you to create an interesting story, meet people, and overall, HAVE FUN!
Accessories - These items will boost your stats or do other interesting things. Accessories can be divided into six sub-categories: rings, head, arm, foot, body, and misc. There are limits to how many accessories can be equipped on a person per category. A person can have 3 rings equipped, 1 head, 1 body, 1 foot, 1 arm, and 3 for misc. at a time. An accessory will have the letter of the sub-category it is from next to it (like Protect Vest (b)) when it is equipped. All extra accessories that are not equipped will be placed under "Items". You can only own one of each accessory. When an accessory is unequipped, anything provided, stats or otherwise, will be removed as well. Please tell us what accessories you would like equipped in your posts.
Battling - Battles are turned based, much like you would find in a video game RPG. Two characters must be in the same city to be able to fight. You can only have one fight every two weeks, and there must be a staff member there to watch the fight and referee the match. The character with the highest speed would go first. Dodging can be done 3 times during a battle. Blocking may be done, but it cuts the amount of damage done to you in half. Physical attacks can be blocked. No magic or energy attacks can be blocked without a special move, which can only be used once. Some psionics can be blocked. Everyone starts with one block, no matter their stats. For every 100 points of Intelligence and 200 points of Determination you have, you gain another block. You can only block a total of 20 times in battle, no matter how many blocks you have earned. Items can be used, but only 5 of each type per battle, excluding ammunition, but including the grenades (you can only use 5 of all the grenade types combined). Item usage takes one turn. Magics, physical blows, Psionics, special moves, and Limit Breaks are exchanged throughout the fight. When one player's HP reaches zero, or one of the players forfeits, the match is over. The character whose HP reaches zero (and is placed under the "Dead" status), or who forfeits loses, gaining one level. The player that wins gets two levels.
Character Classes - Your character class is for you to decide. There are many different types of classes, one of which for your character to be. A class is like a job: a Medic would be a healer, and would only fight unless truely necessary, while a Mercenary would hunt down other characters and recieve pay for their heads. Staying true to your class is not entirely necessary, though, and you may change classes at any time. Just ask a staff member, or post your request on the message boards.
Ship and Mobile Suit battles- Ship and Mobile suit battles are turn based much like regular battles. You can only have a ship fight once a month and a staff member must be there to watch the fight. The ship or suit with the best engine goes first. If a mobile suit goes against a ship, then the mobile suit goes first. If two ships with the same engine or two mobile suits with the same thrusters go against each other, then the person with the highest Speed stat goes first. A person’s speed also helps avoid attacks. Each ship and suit has a specific amount of speed needed for another dodge. The amount can be found in the description of the frame of the ship and suit. The Aviation skill can be used in battle to dodge an attack. It takes skill to operate more than one weapon on a ship or suit at a time. For every 500 Intelligence the pilot has, the pilot may operate another weapon in the same turn. The maximum amount of weapons that can be operated in a single time is five. It only takes one dodge to dodge all the weapons used in one turn because they are focused onto a single spot at the same time. Each weapon has a base amount of damage that is does. When figuring out the rest of the damage done, the person goes by the first weapon they use on their opponent. If a melee weapon is used first, then ½ of the pilots Self Control is added to the damage done in a turn. If a ranged weapon (beam weapons, missiles, etc.) is used first, then ½ the pilots Accuracy is added to the damage done in a turn. A ship or suits HP is figured out by the predetermined set damage of the crafts armor plus, for every 50 Determination the pilot has, 150 HP is added to the ship. When as crafts HP reaches 0, then the battle is over. If the last weapon used on a craft is a melee weapon, then the ship is disabled. If it is a beam weapon or missile, then the ship is destroyed. If the ship is destroyed, then the pilot is dead for two weeks. The wreckage drifts slowly to a nearby planet. The pilot can’t be revived unless a ship picks up their craft with a cargo hold that is large enough. If a ship is disabled, it takes a week for the ship to drift to a nearby planet. Either way, the ship is totaled and can’t be repaired until it lands on a planet. It will cost ½ the ship’s sum to repair. It will only cost ¼ the money if the pilot knows Engineering. As with any fight; a battle, win or lose, generates experience. The winner gets 200 points to distribute to Speed, Intelligence, Self Control, Determination, and Accuracy only. The loser, only 100. If a combatant is a Full Fledged Pilot, they get a 25% extra stat benefit. 250 for winning and 125 for losing.
Ship and Mobile Suit Battles On a Planet- These battles take place on a planet's surface. A pilot may be revived right away, and can begin repairs on their craft as soon as possible. Any mobile suit can battle on a planet and only the small and medium sized ships can fight on Earth, though they must have impulse drive. Much of the same rules apply as stated above, except a ship can’t use any engines except impulse engines, making the Tachyon Drive useless and its extra dodge nullified. If pilot's craft has any type of thrusters on their mobile suit, it can hover in the air over a suit that doesn't have thrusters. In this scenario, the flying suit can use any weapons at their disposal, but the ground based suits can only use ranged weapons (Beam Weapons, Missiles, etc.). This flight can only last for five turns. After which, the suit’s engine will need to recharge for five turns. Some engines don’t need to recharge, but must still wait at least one turn before becoming airborne again. Nuclear Weapons are forbidden by use on any planet surface by the Universal Arms Treaty.
Mobile Suit and Ship Sparring- If two pilots would like to test their skills in battle, they can have a practice battle with each other. In spars, weapons are replaced with low damaging, but disabling weapons that shut down the energy systems if used correctly. Holographic missiles will cause recorded damage that adds to the damage done to a ship in a spar. A ship’s computer will shut down the engine system once it has taken enough damage. Damage is minimal in spars. Each person participating in a spar gains 35 points to add to Speed, Intelligence, Self Control, Determination, and Accuracy only. Without the proper control you could cause actual damage. To prevent this, you must have also trained at the Blue Heaven Phantom Academy. You may only spar once a week.
Death - If you get killed, you can be brought back to life by an item called a "Phoenix Down." If someone uses this on you, an ally perhaps... you will be brought back to life. However, if you do not have this item you will stay dead for one week. It can be bought at the shops.
Guilds - There are quite a few guilds already established in this RPG. A guild is basically a group or legion of characters, who can be tightly knit, or barely associated with each other. Ask a staff member or make a post if you would like to join an existing guild, or even start up your own.
Items - These you can buy from the many shops found all over each planet. Lists of items you may buy, along with their descriptions and attributes, can be found on the "Items" page. OOC messages are important when buying items. Be sure to include prices of items and how much you spent, along with any special attributes like point placing in your stats.
Joining - To join, simply choose a character from any anime or RPG, as long as the character isn't already on the Roster, then click the "Join" link on the navagation bar to your left and enter the needed info. No non-anime characters please. Make sure your character isn't already chosen before applying. There is to be no doubling up on characters! One per person. If anyone is caught with more than one character, both characters will be removed from the RPG, no questions asked. If you are interested in having more than one character, you may consult a staff member on creating a non-playable character (NPC). After you decided what your character is going to be like, create a Follow the rest of the directions, and you should be all set to post, post, post! First thing's first though: get in touch with a staff member and go to the OOC board and make a post concerning your addition to the RPG. Be sure to include the same info that you sent from the "Join" page, along with a picture of your character to be placed on your roster page, if the anime character is not on the character selection page. If it is, it is still recommened that you post that you are interested in joining. After a reply from a staff member to okay your joining, you're all set to go!
Leveling Up - When you gain a level, you get 40 points to distribute at will among your stats. You will also gain 50 HP. Be sure to let staff members know when you level up by placing OOC messages in your posts explaining under which stats you'd like to place your points. There are four ways you can gain a level:
· after completing four training sessions, you gain one level
· when all of your stats gain 100 points, you get a Bonus Level. (e.g. you'd get a level when all of your stats are 100 or above, 200, 300, etc.)
· you can gain levels after completing special training, or training in the Training Places (these can be found by clicking the "Training Places" link on the navagation bar)
· by fighting in a battle, you can gain level(s)
Limits - A limit break is one of your character's ultimate moves. You may only use a limit when 25% of your character's health is remaining. Limits can only be performed once each per battle. See the "Limits" section of the "Moves" page for details.
Magics - These are attacks that use losts of energy. Because there is such a demand for useage of your energy while fighting, you can only use one of each magic per battle. You can't block these attacks, unless you have a skill that allows you to. Most magics can be dodged although there are some that can't be.
Message Board - There are different forums placed on the board, each with its own purpose. To post on the message board, you must create a local user name, the same name as your character's. Under the "Roleplaying" section, you can create a life for your character, meeting other people and creatures that can become your allies - or foes. Under the "Training" forum, you can boost your character's strength and ability by posting a training session where your character can work out and get some exercise on the weekends. The "Shops" forum is for your roleplaying posts concerning buying items, weapons, or upgrading weapons you already own. The "Chocobo" section of the board is were all posts having to do with chocobos, weather it is buying items realated to chocobos, catching one, or raising one. These four forums are all in-character, or "IC," meaning they are meant for roleplaying, and only for the telling your character's story. "OOC" (out-of-character) tid bits may be included somewhere in these posts to explain certain things. As for being OOC, there is a whole forum dedicated just to this. Here, you may goof off and talk to the other members of the RPG when not roleplaying. There are two other OOC forums: Suggestions and Testing, which are pretty much self-explainitory.
Money - The currency used in this RPG is gil. The amount of gil you recieve on payday depends on your Character Class. Payday is every Thusday. You will only be paid on payday if you have roleplayed during the previous week. For example: the week begins on Friday; if you do not roleplay from then until the following Thursday, you will not be paid. If you do roleplay, you will be paid. Simple as that. Also, clarifying what counts as a roleplay (RP), training and shopping do not qualify. A RP must be a post under "Roleplaying" or "Chocobo" on the message boards.
Monster Fighting - From time to time, opportunities will come up where you will be able to fight different monsters. Up to three people can fight a single monster at a time. You get a reward for every monster you kill, but the higher the number of people fighting it when it dies, the lower the prize is worth. Everyone who fights the monster will gain points, even if they die or run away. A monster can't block any moves but can dodge 3 times per battle. All damage done to a monster is cumulative. You must fight for at least 5 rounds before being able to run away. A monster will regain 1/7 (rounding up) of its HP for everyday that it is left living, until it is at full health once again. If a monster has any magic attacks, it can use each one three times per battle. Only Ryan (Red XIII) and Myke (Veemon), can determine where, when, and how a monster will fight. Requests to fight a monster will be considered.
Moves - Moves consist of the many Magics, Limits, Psionics, and Summons that you can learn. You are allowed to learn two Moves and/or Skills at a time. To be able to learn any Magics, you must have the "Tao Magic" skill.
Psionics - These are the abilities of the mind. Unless it is otherwise stated, psionics cannot be dodged or blocked. Because of the demands of using a psionic ability, each power can only be used once each per battle.
Reselling Items - All items and weapons can be resold. They are sold for half their total worth. If you have upgraded a weapon, then it is sold for half of the amount of the total costs of its upgrades, plus half the cost of the weapon.
Roster Page - Each character on the RPG gets their own page on the Roster. On your character's page, you'll find his/her picture, full name, current level, bio, AIM screen name, Character Class, current training place (if any), marital status (IC), HP (Hit Points), stats, location, items, vehicles, wepons, gil, skills, moves, and any skills or moves they are currently learning. HP is your character's health in battle. Stats determine many things, like what moves and skills you can and can't learn, how well you'll do in battle, and how powerful your attacks will be. The different stats are as follows: Power, Magic, Speed, Intelligence, Self-Control, Determination, and Accuracy. When you gain points from training, leveling up, battling, etc., you get to choose how to distribute the points among these stats. You may add points to your HP if you would like as well. If you own any chocobos, ships, or Mobile Suits, they will be added as links to their own seperate pages at the bottom of the roster page. If you would like to add any extra images and so forth to your roster page, just contact a staff member via the message board, and they'll be glad to help!
Skills - These are what you will need to know to accomplish a variety of things; including using Magic, hiding from your enemies, picking a lock, and even piloting a Gundam! Many skills require certain stats to be high enough to be able to learn them.
Sources - These items will add points to your stats and stay that way forever. They cannot be bought, but rather be received under certain circumstances. They can be used at any time outside of battle.
Space Patrol Prison - This is where the baddies are brought if they are beaten in battle or caught stealing. All your items, weapon upgrades, and gil will be taken away if you are thrown in jail, as well as the moves/skills that you are learning will become invalid (you will not recieve your items back if you are not a Thief or Pirate and are in jail). You may not train or recieve pay while in prison. You must stay for one or two weeks, or bust out if you know a skill that allows you to, or with outside help. Be forewarned: breaking out of prison almost guarantees the addition of your name to the Wanted List!
Sparring - Characters may spar 2 times a week. This is a form of training, however it does not count towards leveling up. You get 20 points each to distribute among your stats, as well as 20 HP each. A sparring match is basically a fight, except in the end, no damage is done. Both participants in the spar must make posts on the "Training" message board for the spar to count. It's also important here to post where you'd like your points to go.
Staff - The staff members are the people who maintain the site and keep it running. They update you and your roster page every time you train, travel, go shopping, or do anything else. I have any questions, comments, or need help with anything, don't be afraid to ask! You can click on the "Staff" link on the navagation bar to see small profiles of each of the RPG's staff members. You can contact any one of them via e-mail, AIM, or just a post on the message board. We hope that all of you have a great time on our RPG, so do!
Stealing - The only characters that may steal are those that belong to the classes of Thieves and Pirates. But first, in order to steal, one must learn the proper skill. Keep that in mind when you join. They are allowed to steal a maximum amount of 300 gil a day, but for only 2 days a week. If this applies to you, please include this info in your posts. They may steal weapons, but please confer with a staff member before doing so. As for items, they may steal up to ten total. Otherwise, stealing will not be tolerated! If your character is not a Theif or Pirate, and you are caught stealing, you will be brought into prison for two weeks. If you are caught by any staff member three times... you will be booted from the RPG, no questions asked!
Penalties of Wrong Doing -
1. For every 5,000 gil in item value and gil, you will be raised 1,000 gil in wanted value.
2. In order to steal gil or items without having this added to your wanted value or just plain not get caught, you must buy Thief Gloves.
3. You must have a minimum of one paragraph post for stealing gil and at least a five paragraph post for stealing an item.
4. Normally, you may steal only items you can purchase. There will be small exceptions for rare items, but you may only steal ONE, and this will take three of your total steals. Not only that, there are many items you can't steal no matter what. You will have to get the ok from a staff member for such rare items beforehand, and also have a worth roleplaying post.
5. For every person you kill, 1,000 will be added to wanted value. If you don't want to get caught, you must have Disguise and clearly state when you roleplay that you have disguised yourself.
6. Once your wanted value reaches above 20,000, you will be wanted dead or alive. Over 50,000 you will be wanted dead.
7. You can not steal a ship or gundam over 20,000 in value.
8. You can not sell items you steal on the same planet you stole them from.
9. If your wanted value is over 75,000, you must accept battles no matter what. There is only one way to avoid this, by having Diguise. But Tracking can counteract this.
10. If you switch from Thief or Pirate to a different class, you automatically lose Steal and/or Mug and all items you have every stolen. There is only one way around this. You must do a VERY good post on the reason for such a class change.
11. You may give only TWO of your steals to someone else, and you can't give your "rare" steal (if you did one) to anyone. Otherwise the SP can track that item down and both will become wanted.
12. You may steal ONE upgrade per weapon you have. If you steal the final upgrade to a weapon (as long as it can be bought), that will count towards your rare steal, thus taking up three steals. Also, stealing a weapon, then stealing its upgrade will still count as two steals. You can not steal ultimates that require some sort of special event to obtain. (Ex: Monster battle or requiring a Guide.)
Training - Training is done on two days: Saturday and Sunday. You allowed one training session per day. After completeing a training session you get 15 points to distribute among your stats. Choose wisely. You even gain 10 gil and HP every time you train. Also, each time you have gone through four training sessions, you get a level up. Training must be in roleplaying form, and be sure to add an OOC explanation at the bottom to let staff members know where to place your points!
Traveling - You'll need to travel to many different towns, cities, and planets during your roleplaying here, for training and other various things. It takes 2 days to travel between cities with a vehicle such as a car or truck, and a full week to travel by foot. Traveling by chocobo takes 4 days, as you must give the chocobo time to rest. Depending on the drive on your ship, space travel may vary from a week to four days. With the "Hyper Space Drive" it will take a mere day to travel between planets.
Weapons - New weapons can be bought at any of the many blacksmiths and arms shops in every town and city. Two weapons are permitted per person, although there is a skill you can learn that allows you to carry a third. Damage due to physical blows during battle depends on what weapon you are using and how much power you have. See the "Weaponry" page for the individual weapons and their specific damage costs. Damage done by weapons is found by adding base damage to 1/2 your power or 1/2 accuracy if you are using a long-ranged weapon. Your weapon's base damage improves every time you upgrade it. Weapons can be upgraded by meeting certain requirements and by having the amount of gil indicated. See the "Weapon Upgrades" section on the "Weaponry" page for details. Make sure you post an OOC explaination of where points will go, the cost, etc. for staff members.
The Message Board Rules:
1. Do not abuse the services provided by these forums. Such abuse is noted as posting in all glow text, using large amounts of text decoration (A.K.A. screaming) etc. Also do not abuse the actual features of the forums such as the e-mail notification system or other programs linked to the forums. Such abuse (spamming, trolling, hacking into other people's accounts, trying to gain access to the administration center without authority, or using information provided by accounts such as e-mail to be used in mass mailing, deliberately trying to kill the forums by spamming the URL, or starting pyramid schemes) is illegal and such individuals will be banned quickly and their Internet service providers notified of their harassing behavior.
2. Respect your fellow forum members by not putting down their beliefs, opinions, gaming style, or material and DO NOT flame (cuss) another member on these forums. Such behavior is monitored by more than 7 forum administrators and such threads containing profanity toward another member will be promptly deleted and the participants punished accordingly (by removal of post numbers, titles, or forum use). Only constructive criticism will be tolerated when it comes to other people's new suggestion that is posted on the suggestion forum. Anime RPG is a place where creativity is nourished, not withered with gaming purist banter. Calling someone a "munchkin" is considered a flame on these forums, as such a comment usually leads to more colorful language between two members.
3. Do NOT fluff post in any forums at the Anime RPG. Fluff posting is determined by the content of a member's post and those found to be extremely off-topic to the thread or forum they are in will be moved to the correct forum or deleted from the system. We often have new members who will attempt to inflate their post numbers by posting one or two word replies, post off topic, or start threads that do not belong in the forum they are in or are considered pure stupidity by other forums members just to gain another post under their forum name. Such posts will be deleted and the author punished by removal of post numbers. Repeat offenders can and will be banned from the forums completely.
4. Do NOT create more than one account to post at the forums with. Most of the times members do this thinking they can get away with posting flames under the second account and not worry about being banned. However, IP addresses are logged with each post and the accounts can quickly be linked to one person.
5. Do NOT post gaming material from ANY official sources. This includes spells, monsters, races, or other material from any gaming book that has been published by a gaming company. Do NOT ask for copyrighted material on the forums through instant messages or forums. Regardless of the "privacy" of the instant messaging system, administrators CAN and WILL submit copies of messages containing illegally posted material to the authorities should we be asked. However, material considered to be "Open Gaming Content" can be freely posted on these forums.
6. Do NOT create accounts containing offensive material. Such material includes profane user or forum names, signatures, personal titles, etc. Any member found to be using a pornographic picture as their avatar will be banned from the forums AND website.
7. Do NOT sign up for these forums to advertise your website, product, forums, etc. This is considered spam and will not be tolerated. When you create an account there are plenty of ways to advertise your website (through the website link through your signature which allows links) without creating an entire post about it. This requires you post normally to get the "exposure" you want for your website and that is why it discourages such individuals from even signing up. Also note that culling e-mail addresses from the member's list in order to redirect forum members to your website is considered breaking this rule and rule #1
8. Profanity is not censored on the forums unless it is directed at another member. Saying "Shit, that is cool" is acceptable. However, saying "You're fucking stupid" is not. Please use colorful language correctly, most of us are adults on these forums or are mature enough to know when enough is enough. Those found to be using too much profanity will be notified through an instant message or e-mail and by a moderator or administrator and asked to tone down their posts. Those that refuse will eventually be banned from the forums.
9. Posting at the forums is a requirement if you wish to keep your account here. New accounts are monitored and those that do not log at least one post within a week after they are created are removed to free-up the user name for potential new members who will. Also, accounts that have posts logged that are dormant for more than a month are also subject to deletion unless the owner of the account contacts one of the administrators.
10. Do not leave white spaces ( a "_") in your member name once signing up.
11. If it is against the law in the United States then it is also illegal on the RPG forums. So if it can be done online and is illegal in the U.S. then DO NOT do it on our forums!
If you do not agree with these rules, then please do not post at our forums.
The Anime RPG takes no responsibility from the content of the posts created by the members of the RPG, as such we take no legal stance should a forum member get into trouble because of the content of one of their posts at the RPG.
