Another of the pleasant surprises of the Danish Royal Wedding was also the responsibility of HIRH Archduchess Karl of Austriahungary who attended the wedding ceremony wearing a superb diamond and emerald tiara that had belonged to the Royal Family of Hannover and had been sold at auction. The tiara has cabochon-cut emeralds and had not been worn for several decades but it was a pleasant surprise indeed that it has been bought by another Royal and in this case Imperial Family.
Splendid appearance of HRH The Princess of Hannover at the Royal Theatre of Copenhagen, wearing for the first time the elegant jewels of her husband’s family. Although there is no picture of older ladies of the Hannoverian Royal Family wearing this tiara, the jewel was worn by Prince Ernst August’s first wife, Chantal, at the pre-wedding gala of one of HRH Duke Philipp of Württemberg and HRH Duchess Elizabeth in Bavaria, in 1991. It is an elegant diamond tiara in different floral motifs.
HRH The Duchess of Braganza, born Isabel de Herédia, wears for the first time an elegant diamond bandeau that used to belong to HRH The Duke of Braganza's mother, HRH Duchess Duarte Nuno, born Princess Maria Francisca de Brazil. The Duchess wore it on occasions such as the pre-wedding galas of Princess Maria Pia of Italy (cfr. on the Glittering Casa Savoia website) and of Infanta Pilar of Spain. The Duchess wore the Royal Order of Santa Isabel, of which she is Grand Master.
