HIRH Archduchess Karl of Austriahungary, born Baroness Francesca Thyssen, attended the wedding celebrations alone but she dazzled in her own glamorous style. To the gala at the Royal Theatre of Copenhagen the Archduchess wore the diamond and pearl tiara she had worn only once, on her wedding day, in January 1993. The tiara has not been frequently seen but in 1956 HIRH Archduchess Otto of Austriahungary, born Princess Regina of Saxe-Meinigen, wore it to a wedding gala held by the Toering-Jettenback family. Archduchess Karl seems to wear rather large diamond earrings.

Although it would first seem it was the diamond and pearl tiara of the Bulgarian Royal Family, a closer look at the jewel worn by HRH The Princess of Tirnovo at the Royal Theatre of Copenhagen reveals that it is actually a previously unseen diamond bandeau. It is not known if this is a piece borrowed for the occasion, an unknown tiara or a totally new piece.

HRH The Countess of Wessex, born Sophie Rhys-Jones, wore for the first time a tiara other than her wedding one at the gala held at the Royal Theatre of Copenhagen. The bandeau of what seem graduated small flowers, might well be the central part of the aquamarine tiara worn by HRH The Earl of Wessex’s grandmother, HRH Princess Andrew of Greece and Denmark, mother of HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, in the middle. It was also the first time the Family Order of Queen Elizabeth II could clearly be seen on the Countess.
