HRH Crown Princess Pavlos of Greece, born Marie-Chantal Miller, wore a tiara that was publicized in several fashion magazines as costing £750.000 with beautiful diamonds weighting up to 56.28 carats. It is unknown if the jewel was bought for the Princess or borrowed for the occasion. Her earrings are equally spectacular, with diamonds of amazing size.
HIM The Shahbanou Farah of Iran wore no tiara to this event, as she has never done since she left Iran and her tiaras there. Curiously Her Majesty did not wear her sash of the Order of the Elephant either, but was nevertheless impeccably elegant. The Shahbanou wore one of her personal pairs of earrings, part of the few jewels that were taken out of Iran because they were personal property and that can be seen better on the left.
One of the sights of the day, HRH The Duchess of Calabria stunned all the jewel-watchers by wearing the so-called Ancona Tiara, auctioned years ago and seldom seen worn. In the middle it is worn by a member of the Genoa branch of the Italian Royal Family, the caption of the original picture being "HRH The Duchess of Pistoia". It seems this magnificent diamond and pearl tiara was bought by the Royal Family of the Two Sicilies, although this was the first time it was worn by a member of this family.
