One of the official pictures made at Amalienborg Palace just before the Gala Performance at the Royal Theatre to mark the wedding of HRH Princess Benedikte and HSH Prince Richard zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg. The Princess wore her own Diamond Floral Tiara and a splendid Russian diamond necklace that used to belong to Queen Alexandrine and which was split in three by Queen Ingrid, from which hang her 18th birthday present from her father, a big diamond brooch.

TM The King and Queen of Denmark and their daughter, HM The Queen of The Hellenes, arrive at the Royal Theatre of Copenhagen for the Gala Perfomance. His Majesty The King wore naval uniform, while Her Majesty Queen Ingrid wore her breathtaking Diamond and Ruby Parure. Queen Anne-Marie impressed everyone not only with her jewels but also with her radiant smile, in evidence on this return to her homeland after such difficult months. The Greek Queen brilliantly wore her imposing Diamond and Emerald Tiara.

Above, the bridal couple’s arrival at the Royal Theatre of Copenhagen for the performance and below their appearance on the balcony of the building, to acknowledge the cheers of the crowd gathered to greet them. The Princess wears the sash of the Order of the Elephant.

A look at some of the royal guests in all their splendour: from left, HRH Prince Knud, HRH Princess Caroline-Mathilde, HRH Prince Henrik, HRH Princess Margrethe, wearing her Diamond Drop Tiara, HM Queen Anne-Marie, HM Queen Ingrid, HM King Frederik IX and HSH Princess Marguerite zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg sit in front of other members of the two families.
