Bits from Ramp

These are just a few bits of Julie's interview on Ramp magazine. A big gracias to Tara for most of what you read here.

Cassic Benz by Matt Coppa

The Star of Steven Spielberg's Taken and a vampiress on Angel, Julie Benz sinks her teeth into out lingerie drawer. That's right ___ we have a lingerie drawer!

Julie benz is dizzy.

Peering from the window of a cliff-side Hollywood Hills Mansion during the RAMP photo shoot, the buxon Blonde is still getting used to life at the top. A former nationally ranked teenage figure skater, Julie glided right into an acting career.

Following stints on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, Julie recently visited outher space as the star of the Steven Spielberg miniseries Taken. RAMP spoke with Julie about her career, her cooking and her sexy curves

Tell us about life as a competitive figure skater

I loved it. I traveled the wolrd and got to meet interesting people. I went to Sarajevo and all through Europe. But I was also happy to walk away from it when i did. I got injured at 13 and retired when I was 16.

Between ice skating and ice dancing. Which one is gayer?

Ice dancing. (laughs)

You had a role in Married... with Children --- What was David Faustine (Bud) really like?

He was great. That was the first job I had in L.A. Bud grew breasts because he got sprayed with some sort of garden chemical, and I was the dream girl that comes to the door and offers myself to him. He had to turn me down because of his man breasts

Speaking of breasts, we hear you turned down a part in Eyes Wide Shut because the role was topples.

I turned down a callback because I would've had to take my top off --- for the actual call back, not for the job. I have no problem taking my clothes off if I'm getting paid.

But don't they have to check out the goods beforehand?

They didn't give us a script. I had no idea what the story was or what part I was auditioning for. I had no idea who else was going to watch this tape besides Stanley Kubrick --- they were so hush-hush about everything. I love Stanley Kubrick, but I'm an actor, I'm not a breast model --- even though I've got great breasts"

Do you happen to have names for your great breasts?

I call one of them Matilda. I don't really have a name for the other one.

Which one is Matilda?

"The one on the right (laughs). Matilda doesn't behave all the time --- she has a mind of her own."

So you don't a problem on going topless for a role?

It has to be part of the plot. It can't just be girls running around topless

Have you done nudity before?

I did it for a short idependent film called Eating Las Vegas, which was a spoof on Leaving Las Vegas. It was integral to the script. We were spoofing a specific escene from the original movie and I had mu shu pork sauce poured over my breasts, which was kind of funny.

Do you normally wear lingerie?

"I've been known to dress up on occasion. I do love beautiful lingerie, but I also love cotton and I always wear a thong. Never a panty -- Always a thong."

Is it true your former Angel co-star Charisma Carpenter has butt inplants?

What? No, that's not true. That girl's got an amazing body --- there's no reason why she'd need butt implants.

We can all use butt implants

No me. I've got enough butt. I think it'd be scary if I got butt implants --- I'd be all ass.

Have you ever dreamt about the Angel himself, David Boreanaz?

He's a bit of a dork. He's a really nice guy and an amazing partner onscreen. We'd had to do love escenes and stuff, but you know... It's David. I don't think of him that way."

Did your role as 400-year-old vampire Darla on Buffy and Angel make you a cult hero to vampire-loving goth freaks?

I do have a lot of goth fans, but I always feel they are so dissapointed when they meet me. They're expecting this dark and evil super-cool person, and I'm really this big dork who giggles a lot while my arms go flying all over the place."

Tell us about Taken.

It's a 20-hour miniseries that Steven Spielberg produced for the Sci Fi Channel. It's about alien abductions and follows three families through 50 years. I play a woman in the 1940a whose boyfriend gets abducted during the war, and when he gets back he's haunted by the memories.

Has your real-life husband ever been abducted by aliens?

No, he's an actor (John Kassier). He also does a ton of cartoon voices, like Buster Bunny from Tiny Toons. We just did George of the Jungle 2 together. He's the voice from the Crypt Keeper from Tales from the Crypt.

Does he ever use that voice in bed?

No, he's not allowed. He uses other voices, sexier voices.

You have two Border Collies, Elvis and Gracie --- who picks up the doo-doo? You or your butler:

I don't have a butler -- I have a husband who does that job. That's why you have a husband, to clean up the dog poo.

Your bio says you're a gourmet chef. So how many scoops of iced-tea mix make the perfect pitcher of iced tea?

To make a perfect pitcher?... Five?

Correct! Not to sweet, not too tangy. Are you aware of the site amazingjulie.com?

Yes, I am. It's a fan site. I'm not affiliated with it, but they know more about me than I do. It's flattering.

Do you consider yourself amazing

I consider myself pretty cool, but not amazing

Well, we think you're amazing. What's the biggest misconception about you?

"That I've got everything together. I'm really a complete mess. I'm really good at making my house look clean, but when people leave, everything comes pouring out of the closet. I'm a tornado -- I run people over with my energy."
