Secretly
Admiring
by
Jim Ciccolini

Ah, so
fragile, sweet and slender,
she’s
enraptured all my thoughts,
and I am sure
her touch is tender
just as sure as
I am caught.
Any other
might reject her
as she’s quiet,
small and shy,
but I’d be
honored to protect her
from the earth,
the sea and sky.

I might melt
from the compassion
if she held
me... if she cared,
but there’s no
joy for those who
ration
all their love
in safer shares.
How I long
to take her hands,
to press them
softly to my lips,
and ever to,
beside her, stand,
to catch her if
she ever slips.

In my dreams
I hear her laughter...
How I wish that
it could stay...
that I could
wake the morning after
with her here
to share the day.....
