My Daddy was a Soldier
My Daddy was a Soldier
He never did come home
Now and then I really miss him
And I feel all alone
Don't understand why God thought
He should take Dad up to Heaven
We had oh so many plans
For when I'd turn eleven
He said he'd buy me my first rifle
Take me hunting, like a man
When I reached that magic age
Old enough to understand
Now my Daddy, he won't know me
All the years I'm growing older
Won't know if I'm a coward
Or a strong boy, getting bolder
My Daddy was a Soldier
He never did come home
Now and then I really miss him
And I feel so all alone
