Louisiana Sunrise

Driving down on seventy five
Heading to interstate ten
Sweet mama I’m taking a drive
Driving to New Orleans
Lake city far behind now
Tallahassee here I come
Mobile Alabama
Pensacola on the run

Louisiana sunrise
Longtime on the road
Far up in the distance
The Gulf of Mexico
Don’t know where I’m going
Or what I’m running too
Music on the radio
It’s the melancholic blues

Moonlight on the Bayou
Sweet Georgia on my mind
Open road before me
Louisiana Sky
Morning sun is on the rise
Day has just begun
Yesterday’s memories
Dimmed with the setting sun

Louisiana sunrise
Longtime on the road
Far up in the distance
The Gulf of Mexico
Don’t know where I’m going
Or what I’m running to
Music on the radio
It’s the melancholic blues

I’ll live life’s adventures
Seeking wisdom when I can
With the knowledge that surrounds me
Who am I but mortal man?
Your bright lights attract me
Like a moth to the flame
Consumed with your beauty
Good morning New Orleans
