Another gallery of Cambridge pictures
- Westminster from the front (it's where I had Writing)
- Motto over their gate
- Their front door
- Thestained glass window in their dining hall, where I had class (it's not really that dark)
- Andanother one
- Coolrelief plaques and eagle in the lantern tower still in my classroom
- And a rehearsal:
- From left to right, James (Ephesian Dromio), Wright (Ephesian Antipholus), Jorge (Syracusian Antipholus), and Martha (Luciana) as we loafed and didn't rehearse.
- Hall outside rehearsal room at Sidney, from left to right Lisa's (Adriana) head at the bottom, Jean (Doctor Pinch), and Jorge
- Martha's trying to attack Jorge with eyeliner, so he put his bandana around his eyes
- But I think she got him anyway
- And I was bored in the room, so!
- I played with my watercolor pencils
- And took pictures of it in the mirror
- Trying for differentangles
- And then we went to Buckingham, 10 Downing Street
- And there werepretty gold statues
- And crests on the gates
- A couple days later, we went to Stonehenge, though I didn't get to go inside like the Archeo class
- So I took pictures from behind the rope
- It was cute
- Andold
- With lots of rocks
- Pretty amazing how they got them all up there
- The same day, we went to Bath (that's Sophia's head, our deputy)
- It had cool pseudo-Roman stuff (they built the museum in the Victorian times, so nothing on the outside is authentic
- It walso had real stuff like coins, taken fron the offering pool in the spring
- And then next trip we went to Warwick (don't pronounce the second W)
- And saw cute castles
- And peacocks
- With pretty feathers
- And chicks
- We collected lots of feathers
- So I disassembled my pouch string and put ribbons in Nia's hair (there were bows, aaah)
- And then we watched the armor demonstration
- Our side cheered for the filthy stinking peasant instead of the rich knight
- After that was the archer, whom I must mention, but whose pictures all died...
- then we went in the Great Hall and saw cool urns
- And cool furniture
- And horse armor in nice light
- And then we went in the wall to see the portcullis from above
- As soon as we got back to Cambridge, we went to Sidney for Comedy; thus, we're getting notes
- That's the green on which we played, but you can't really see it (batteries dying)
- Crazy whispering scene of yogurt fame
- View from the stone corner porch we used for the Abbey
- An interestingly degraded picture of Ephesian Dromio, Jorge, and Jon (Officer and Jailor and Luce)
- Charlie's Dromios excluding the very annoying James, who was Blue Boy's counterpart
- More notes before the show started
- And then we went to London again:
- We didn't go in, but here's The Globe
- And then we walked and walked
and walked and walked across the Millennium bridge
- and once we got across there was a really cool chalk drawing
on the sidewalk based on Da Vinci's Last Supper
- And we got closer and closer and closer and closerto St. Paul's (it's huge)
- Pictures weren't allowed inside but I took some anyway (we didn't go past the entrance, it was 5 pounds)
- There was no photography allowed in the Tate galleries (much to my regret; I liked the exploding piano), but I took one of their hall
- And then we got back to Cambridge and immediately had to prepare the show
- So we ran around frantically
- And it was hot
- But Martha was having fun
- And Jorge had a sword
- So we weren't too stressed
- And afterward we took a cast picture or two (not everybody stayed)
- And then the Comedy cast got to see Midsummer without signing or tickets or anything!
- I thought this was noteworthy
- Puck was good
- And the pile of fairies had good costumes
- Oberon and Puck had good chemistry
- He was good, different than I've seen it played. Very calm
- Bottom was also good, if a bit exuberant
- (here he wants to be Thisbe)
- Hmm... I did get some bad ones
- Here he has ears, though still moving fast
- And Titania has gotten around tofalling in love with him
- Oberon and Puck conspire over a sleeping Demetrius
- Lysander (left) was good, Helena was hard to understand and a bit squeaky, and Demetrius (right) was a little... oh, I dunno, fake. Here, they're both in love with Helena
- But the confrontations were funny
- Fuzzy, but heartfelt
- Hermia (left) was properly short, and nicely exotic-looking for the guys to chase (at least until interfered with)
- This was a really funny scene; both were trying to restrain Hermia from hurting Helena, but didn't particularly want to touch her...
- And Helena (right middle) thinks they're mocking her
- Puck and Oberon conspire some more (with chopped feet... I suppose I should fix that)
- And Puck complains of his lot (she was good, though also different than I've seen it played)
- And he lures the lovers to different places in the woods so it can all be sorted out
- Then Bottom wakes up in Titania's lap
- When Oberon is about to fix her
- he had cool face paint which is fuzzy here
- But then he did get the lovespell out over her eyes
- While Puck had done everybody else's
- So it was all good
- And everybody was back to normal
- So they danced off happily
- To the play
- But were impatient, since it was an amateur production
- But it was still funny
- Bottom was again melodramatic
- Moaning for his Thisbe love, from behind the Wall (front)
- He was really quite funny
- And then Thisbe did her own moaning
- In a horrible falsetto, which hurt the wall's ears
- Then Bottom looked through the wall's chink
- But couldn't see much
- And then the lion came and stole Thisbe's mantle
- And roared (he said, "um, roar")
- And then Bottom found his love's bloodstained mantle and thus, thus, thus , thus died (he held his breath really obviously and would make huge gasps in between other people's lines)
- Thisbe came upon him (yes, that is a leopard-print padded bra he had on under the mantle)
- Not realizing he was dead
- His death is especially visible here
- And then, If we Shadows have offended...
- And the bows
- And then the show was over.
- Susan drew a present and needed to keep a picture of it
- I drew one, too, and painted it, but I'm only posting one pic of it, and I also gave another one away, but it's old
- And at the barbecue, a Merchant from Comedy took a picture with me
- And then was the talent show... gra, it's nearing the end :(
- Stephanie and Jorge smirked and snirfed (that girl had gorgeous hair)
- That was funny... somebody remind me what the song was
- This guy could play what he could play well, but he kept getting stuck in the middle and having to start over
- The Oklahoman rappers
- Martha and Jorge move faster than the speed of... the camera shutter
- This was really impressive at the time, but it's too fast
- Demonic Martha gets down, and further down
- Jorge and a girl whose name I can't remember get down too, and bugi (boogie)to the intermission music (and a bad one)
- And then all the deputies got up and sang a song
- And Alex nearly got his shirt torn off
- And then they started the music again... crazy dancer really got down (nearly out of camera)
- She's got it goin' on
- It was a great dream, and then I woke
