WOLVES ATTRACTING OUTSIDE INTEREST!
October 11, 2002
Milwaukee – The rumors of the Wolves' leaving Wisconsin are once again flying. Several cities have expressed an interest in bringing the talented club to their wonderful cities. Among the rumored contenders are St. Louis, Memphis, and Chicago. GM William Blandford addressed this rumor at a conference today stating, "Has the team attracted interest, yes. Does Wisconsin's ownership want to sell? Possibly. Will the Wolves be relocating? Unknown, but I honestly hope we can keep the team here."
Scott Rolen is among the new Wolves in the pack, and he enjoys playing in Wisconsin. "The fans here had it rough the last couple of seasons. The first season, a lot of quality players were dealt away as ownership was leaving. Last season a talented team was in uniform, but they had terrible luck and a miserable season. Through all that, the fans have been pretty kind to the Wolves. Their kindness has paid off big time this season, as we are doing all we can to win the division or at the very least make the playoffs."
Chipper Jones agreed saying, "The only thing I'd to see happen is a a grass field put in place. Our team speed will be reduced, but I think the players will have longer careers here." He continued saying, "Outside of that, everything is great here in Milwaukee and the state of Wisconsin."
ESPN’s Peter Gammens said, “The Wolves are hoping to add a grass field, and I think if the team wins the division, ownership will give it to them. This has been one of the best stories in baseball. A team that had the second worst record in the IBL is appearing to be a strong contender for the IBL title. I wish the Wolves all the best!”
