It was the first day of school and he was already having fun. He had caused a fight with the biggest and strongest guy there and stomped him, the guy never had a chance. Since he was new they just gave him a slap on the wrist and let it go. He was an outcast as usual and loved to show people he didn't care. So at lunch on his way to the cafeteria he passed a group of girls and dropped in on a conversation they were having, "Look there he is," one girl said, "I heard he got kicked out of his old school because he nearly killed another student." Two other girls in the group said they heard the same thing and they all went and sat at a table.
Jarek didn't want to pass up the chance to mess with them so he walked over to them and said, "Now, now, you shouldn't talk about people behind their backs."
"What do you want, outcast?" on of the girls asked.
Jarek starred as them with an amused face and said, "To clear a few things up. First of all, my name is Jarek not outcast, second, I didn't almost kill anyone," he let those works sink in to see what they'd do. They looked at him with shocked faces and gasped. He chuckled and said, "All I did was cause a riot against the school."
He watched them as one girl leaned across the table and whispered, "Jessica I think we should leave, this guy isn't worth our time."
Just when they were getting up Jarek asked, "What do you want?"
The girls just looked at him puzzled.
"Not y'all, the girl behind me that's been standing there for a minute and a half." Jarek said as he turned to face a surprised girl.
She just starred at him and asked, "How did you know I was here?"
"There are more ways to see than with your eyes." Jarek replied.
While he was distracted the girls left hoping never to see Jarek again and saying load enough for him to hear, 'What a loser.'
"Uh huh, oh well my names Rebecca, call me Becca though."
"Ok well you already know my name so introductions are out of the way." Jarek said.
"Care to sit with me at lunch to get to know each other better? I noticed you were loner like me." Becca said.
Jarek mulled over it and decided, "Why not, it's always good to have company of the same sort."
They went to the cafeteria, found an empty table, and started talking.
"Well you're new here, where'd you come from?" Becca asked.
Jarek decided not to disclose the town and instead say, "A town about 120 miles north."
Becca looked at him and said, "You can trust me you know."
"I only trust certain people." Jarek said. Right as he said that Becca tossed her hair one side and Jarek saw a design on the side of the girl's neck that was covered by her hair before, he reached for her chin and turned her head away from the side of the design, it was a wolf with black dragon wings. "And it seems that you are one of those people." He said.
Becca just looked at him and asked, "Why do you say that now? Do you recognize the design?"
"Tell me something, what are the three most important attributes to have?" Jarek asked.
"Loyalty, honor, respect nothing else matters." Becca replied.
"So you are a member of the Nighthunters." Jarek said.
"Yeah, I'm second in command." She said.
"Really now, so you know how to confirm to someone that you are in a command position." Jarek asked.
"Sure, you." she stopped short then said, "I can't tell you, sorry, but I do know."
"And why can't you tell me?" Jarek asked.
"Because how do I know you aren't from a rival gang?" Becca replied.
"Ok fine I'll tell you since I already know it. Put your left arm at an inward angle, and put your right wrist out." Jarek told her and she complied. "Now I do the same and we shake each others right hands. How's that for knowing if I'm I rival gang member."
"Ok so who are you then?" Becca asked.
"I'll tell you later but I need you to take me to the gang headquarters after school ok?" Jarek said.
She hesitated for a few seconds then said, "Since you know that hand shake you obviously have to be a leader of second in command, but where's our insignia on you?"
He rolled up his sleeve to reveal the design and with that she agreed to take him to the headquarters.
The rest of the day went by fast. At the end of school that Jessica girl's boyfriend came up to Jarek, shoved him and said, "I heard you were harassing my girl at lunch, is that true?"
Jarek walked up to him and said, "You are messing with the wrong person, you done seen what happened to you earlier, I'm sure you don't want that to happen again so go run away with your tail between your legs."
The guy got real angry at that remark but didn't want to be stomped by the same person twice in one day so he walked off.
Becca was waiting for Jarek outside the school doors so he didn't have to wait. She walked up to him and asked, "So you ready? Which car is yours?"
"No car." Jarek replied.
"Then how are we supposed to get there?" Becca asked.
Jarek tossed her the helmet and said, "Motorcycle."
She walked with him over to his motorcycle, got on, and took off. He got lucky and didn't run into any cops, he was going 80mph. They finally arrived after five minutes and to his surprise it wasn't more than a mile form where he stayed. They got off the motorcycle and looked at the place. It was an old abandoned warehouse but it still had power running to it. They walked to the door and were met by two guards inside. Even though he had never been there he just walked right past the two and into where the leader was. Becca stopped and asked why they just let him go in like that.
"Well had we stopped him, we might have gotten in trouble. The first guard said.
"What do you mean?" Becca asked.
The second guard looked at her and asked, "Don't you know, that the leader of ever Nighthunters gang in every town, he started the first one when he ran away from home four years ago. I'm surprised you didn't notice him."
She just left it at that and went into where Jarek was. He was sitting at a table with John, the leader of the Nighthunters in this town.
"So you didn't even know who this was." John said.
"Well I've heard of him I just didn't know what he looked like, I should have known though when you asked me to confirm my position and then ask me to take you here." Becca replied.
"Don't worry about it I wasn't trying to put out any hints that it was me anyways." Jarek told them.
"Come, sit down, we have business to discuss." He added.
She walked over to the table they were at and sat down.
"Back to what you asked me about the training. As far as I know everyone has been training their hardest and except for a few new member sword skills are excellent, mine and Becca's being the best." John said. "On another not we are having trouble with spies from rival gangs but only one spy got away from us while the others were killed."
"Hmm, ok I'll take care of them, which gangs was it that sent the spies?" Jarek asked.
"Two of them, Devilwings and the other gang doesn't have a name but we know where they are." Becca informed him.
Jarek leaned back and though about what he would do. Even though he said he'd take care of the gangs he could still shutdown the gang due to problems or take care of the problems. "Ok, we'll leave in three hours, meanwhile I want everyone to be training until we have an hour left to leave and then I want an assembly to talk to everyone here." Jarek told them.
"I'll go and announce that." Becca said and left.
"So would you like a tour of the place?" John asked.
"Sure, that will make it easier for me to see if y'all need to make any improvements." Jarek answered and followed John to begin the tour.
The first room they went into was the assembly room which was a huge, empty room, aside from some stacked box crates and a walkway leading over it where John could be heard by everyone on the floor below. They went through every room that was in use, including the equipment room and living quarters for those members who were runaways, and finally ended in the training room. Jarek was impressed with this room, out of all the other cities with his gang this training room was top notch. It had upwards of fifteen to twenty bench presses, enough weights for everyone who needed them, punching bags, and a lot of other weight lifting work stations. Best of all though, every member, an equal mix of girls and boys, was working their hardest and not joking around Jarek turned to John and said, "This is a fine place you have hare, truly the best I've seen yet."
"Thank you." John told him.
John went back to his quarters while Jarek stayed in the training room and worked out.
After he was done he decided to watch a spar that was going on. It was a boy and a girl facing off and he was happy to see that they could anticipate each others moves no matter how many fighting styles they used. When they stopped, they bowed to each other and went to sit down for a while.
They still didn't notice Jarek so he started clapping, walked up to them and said, "Great job. You both should be proud of yourselves."
The girl looked like she was about to drop her guard and start screaming because she had met the man that made the Nighthunters so the boy said, "Thank you, sir. I'm Jacob and this here is Jennifer."
Jarek looked at Jennifer, laughed, and said, "Well the dedication you put into that spar is what I like to see in members. Keep up the good work." He left, went into John's quarters and saw he was talking with Becca.
"Ah, Jarek, we were just talking about you. We were wondering if you were going alone on this mission of are you going to take a few members with you?" John asked him.
"No, I'll be taking three people, including Becca." Jarek said.
Becca was surprised, she didn't expect Jarek to choose her to come with him. "Who are the other two people?" Becca asked.
"I'll announce it at the meeting, which is right now so go get everyone informed." Jarek told her.
It took about ten minutes for everyone to get into that one room since they were scattered throughout the warehouse. Jarek walked out on the rail with John and Becca at his sides. He could tell there was at least seventy people, this was truly the best section of his gang that he'd seen. Finally after a few minutes of scanning over his audience he said, "After four years my gang has spread over nearly all of the United States and even though that is a great thing we still have a long way to go to achieve our objective. You joined because the authority was corrupt and you wanted one of loyalty, respect, and honor. It may take a good may years to get that but it will happen, as soon as more people join and once this gang is in every country in the world we will attack the government all at once and we'll make the world like it should be. To take the country we must first take the towns and to do that you have to take out rival gangs. Two of you will help take the two rival gangs of this town out. I saw the two I chose sparring after workout time had ended and that dedication is getting them the chance to be a part of this mission. I want Jennifer and Jacob to step to the front of the group." He paused and waited for the two to make it to the front of the group and while they passed everyone Jarek could hear that they all had great respect for each other because they were congratulating the two and telling them good job. "Its good to know that respect for each other is high in all of you. You two, Becca, and I will leave in fifteen minutes so get ready." Jarek said then dismissed them.
Before they scrambled away they all yelled, "Loyalty, honor, respect nothing else matters." As one. Jennifer and Jacob hurried to the supply room to get the swords.
"So do you think this will be fun?" Jacob asked.
"Are you kidding, this guy is the greatest leader alive, this is going to be a blast." Jennifer replied.
"Yeah, you're right." Jacob said. They talked about what they were going to do for a few minutes then Jacob looked at his watch and said, "C'mon lets go we only got five minutes before he leaves."
When they got to where Jarek and Becca were, they were about to be left, would have too if they had gotten there any later.
"Just in the nick of time, I thought you might have bailed on me." Jarek said.
"No we just were having a conversation and lo
