Dragon's Inn: A Daughter's Quest

It's been three years since Dragon, Spyke, Kyle, and Severed released the souls and the world had been rid of all humankind. All creatures that lived in hiding roamed the Earth freely now from the small pixies and fairies to the huge giants. One year after all the souls were released all dragons met a Stonehenge to decide the rulers of the seven continents, now known as territories. Even though Dragon, Spyke, and Kyle were the main dragons that started the new world only Spyke was given a territory, his home North America. Disputes between the territories came up but they subsided once everything got settled and no wars have ever been fought, the dragons always resolved their problems peacefully.

No moon was out but the three dragons eyesight was great, they could judge depth, distance, and how fast something was going. They had just joined back up after a scout around to see if anything new was out. Dragon and Kyle had no real position but they still acted as advisors for Spyke. The three flew up to the door of Dragon's Inn laughing and walked in still laughing.

"Where have you three been?" asked Severed. "Y'all were supposed to be here hours ago." she added.

Spyke looked at her and said, "Well after we scouted around and found nothing Dragon here started acting younger than he is and wanted to race so we raced from one end of the territory to the other."

Kyle laughed, put a hand on Dragon's shoulder and said, "Yeah we smoked him."

Dragon put one arm around Spyke's neck and the other around Kyle's and said, "Ah, if I were younger I would have passed you five times before you two finished."

They all three started laughing then went and sat with the two at the bar. Severed got up, let Dragon sit in her seat, and sat in his lap while Kyle walked upstairs and slept and Spyke sat in his girls' seat and let her sit in his lap.

"Well you do know Spyke that you are still king of this territory and you can't be young all the time." Telima told him.

Telima was the girl Spyke was courting at the time and they have been together ever since the souls were released.

Spyke just kissed her and said, "I know but no new issues have come to my attention so why not have a little fun."

Telima smiled and put her arms around him and said, "Yes, but I'd rather have our kind of fun."

All four of them laughed and Dragon asked, "Well, anyone come by while we were gone?"

"Just one, they just needed a place to stay." Severed said.

"Was it anyone of our regulars?" Dragon asked.

"No, she came here through a portal, I still haven't seen her face, and she was wearing a cloak. It looked rather heavy for such a small person but she was walking like it was light." Severed replied.

"Well did she tell you her name?" Spyke asked.

"Nope she refused to tell us her name, refused to talk, and she even refused to let us look at her weapon. It looked a lot like yours Spyke." Telima said.

Spyke unsheathed his sword made sure it was the real thing by making sure a certain rune was on the hilt that he carved into it. It was there and he said, "Well that's impossible, I have the only Triple Dragon sword, I destroyed every one of them except for mine and engraved it with a rune."

"Well it still looked like it. She should be waking up soon she's been asleep for five hours." Severed told them.

They sat there in silence slowly drinking their vodkas and whiskeys. After about five minutes the one tenant came down. She was halfway down the stairs when she stopped and starred at the four sitting at the bar. "Welcome to Dragon's Inn, may you be kind enough to tell us your name?" Dragon asked.

She just stood there looking like she was trying to remember her name. She was wearing black pants that looked baggy but fit her perfectly, a really dark red sleeveless shirt, and a crescent moon and star necklace. "It's.its Tyra." She said.

"Hmm, nice name. I see you have the same necklace as I." Telima said.

Tyra looked at her necklace then at Telima's and said, "Yes my mother gave it to me the day I was born." Then she looked at Severed and said, "I didn't know I was in the inn of the ones who freed the world."

Dragon smiled and said, "Ah, it was Spyke here that came up with that idea."

"But it took the magic from about fifteen other beings to pull it off." A man said as he walked in the door.

"Ah, Raziel nice to see ya today." Dragon said and continued, "You might have helped but the magic from your team and the rest just amplified the attempt and made the transformation shorter but it helped."

"Yeah, yeah, where's the blood I'm thirsty." Raziel replied.

"At the bar as usual, its self serve so help yourself." Severed told him.

Raziel walked to the bar got a bottle of blood and asked, "So who's the new chick over there?"

Telima looked over at her and said, "Oh, that's Tyra just got here earlier today."

"Well Tyra come join us in a drink." Raziel said.

Tyra stood there for a few seconds then decided it was ok and went to the bar and sat beside Telima and Spyke.

Telima looked at Spyke and asked, "Honey, you haven't said a word since Tyra walked down. What's the matter?"

Spyke just sat there and finally said, "Yeah, I know. Its just that Tyra looks familiar and I can't figure out how. Oh well, I'll figure it out later. In the mean time, Tyra where'd you come from before you came here through that portal?"

"Uh, I live on the other side of the territory, I just wanted to explore instead of staying in one spot." Tyra replied.

"Well are you going to stay here for a while or keep going?" Dragon asked.

"To tell the truth I'm looking for someone around here so I guess I'll be sticking around for a while." Tyra said.

"Who you looking for, we might be able to help you since we know practically everyone around here?" Spyke said.

"Uh, I can't tell you, sorry." Tyra said.

"Ok, fair enough lets just drink." Raziel said.

"You're always wanting blood Raziel." Telima said.

"Yeah, you know I think it might be because I'm a vampire, duh." Raziel replied.

They all started laughing sat there talking for hours until finally Tyra said, "Well I'm going to go now I'll be back after I find who I'm looking for."

"Are you sure, you could stay here." Severed said.

"I'm su-" Tyra was cut off as she looked at the stairs out of the corner of her eye and saw someone coming down. She turned completely towards the stairs and saw Kyle at the bottom of the stairs. She pulled out her dagger and ran at Kyle. She was too quick for him to dodge and she had him pinned to the ground before he knew it. She had her hand around his throat trying to get the dagger to go through but Kyle was putting up resistance and kept her from cutting him.

"Get this girl off of me would you." Kyle yelled in anger.

Everyone got up and ran over to Tyra and pulled her off of Kyle and Dragon asked, "What are you doing?"

Tyra looked at them and said, "I mistook him for the person I was looking for."

"You're trying to kill the person you're looking for?" Severed said.

"They killed my mother so yes I am going to kill them." Tyra said on the verge of crying.

"Revenge won't help anything." Telima told her.

"It will bring my mother back that's what it will do. I got to go." Tyra said as she sheathed her dagger and walked out the door and ran into the forest.

"Jeez, she's pretty damn strong and I didn't even do anything and she wants to kill me." Kyle said.

"Severed did you get a weird feeling from her just as she attacked Kyle?" Telima asked.

"Yeah, why." Severed replied.

"Because I felt it as well and I'll tell ya this, she is looking for someone but she isn't exploring and she's not even from this time." Telima said.

"How do you know that?" Spyke asked.

"Because her thoughts revolve around her mother being killed and jumping through a time portal." Severed answered for Telima.

"Exactly, but I can't figure out who it was that killed her mother." Telima said.

"Well I'm sure she'll be back later so lets get some sleep." Spyke said.

Tyra finally stopped running when she was about three miles from the inn. She unsheathed her sword and sat, leaning against a tree. "How am I supposed to finish my mission?" Tyra asked to the wind. She looked around as if looking for someone to answer her when a squirrel jumped out of the tree and into her lap. She looked down at the furry creature and asked, "Are you going to answer my question? Of course not you're a squirrel I don't understand the words you use." The squirrel wiggled his nose at her and ran back up the tree. "I have to kill Kyle, but how am I supposed to kill him without drastically changing the future? He helped my father with many difficult decisions over the years. Plus, I'll probably be killed if I step foot in that inn and they see me since I already tried to kill Kyle. No! It doesn't matter I must stop him." Tyra got up and started training with the sword and her fighting style.

After an hour of training Tyra walked to a lake, took off her clothes, and jumped in to relax. She floated there on her back and thought about how her life has been. The first memory she thought of was when she had walked into the training room one day and her father was in there. She walked up to him, he picked her up, and said, "What are you doing in here little one?"

"I was wandering around and decided to come in here and ask you something." Tyra replied.

He looked at her wondering what question she had that couldn't wait, "What is it that you need to know?"

Tyra lowered her head and said, "Well, I wanted.to know if I could, uh, train with you from now on." She kept her head down and waited for his reply.

Finally he let out a laugh and asked, "Why would you want to do that? You should be running around the castle looking for trouble."

"I know but I want to become as strong as you and I already train behind the castle in the forest." Tyra said as she lifted her head.

"If you wish but it can get rather strenuous and no playing around while training, you have to be serious, but we will have a little fun while we train sometimes. But you have to ask your mother too." Her father said.

"Yay!" Tyra yelled as she jumped to the ground and ran to find her mother. That was the first day she got to train with her father even though her mom put up an argument. That was also the day her mother thought she had enough control to start using her magic as well. She had gotten her magic from her mother and her strength and agility from her father.

She came back to reality and it had already gotten to be dawn. She swam to shore, said a simple spell to dry her off, and got dressed. She was thinking of what time she got in the lake and how long it was until the time she got out and figured she fell asleep after she thought back to that day with her father. She smiled thinking of how much stronger she had become. She was seven when she started training and trained everyday up to now and she was fifteen now, She picked up her fathers sword, sheathed it, and toke off in the direction of the inn. She was hungry so she just decided to head back to the inn and get something to eat and try and stay out of sight of everyone. She walked up to the door, slowly stepped inside, and made sure no one was around. She stepped over to the couch which was in front of a lit fireplace and sat. Tyra looked around the room to see what was there and finally just lay down and closed her eyes listening to the silence.

She dozed off and dreamt of the minutes just before she came back. Her father was in a meeting and she and her mother were sitting beside him on either side. The meeting was about to end when a man in a cloak charged at Tyra's mother with a sword. Before anyone could do anything the sword stabbed her mother in the heard then slit her throat. "No!" yelled as she knocked the man to the ground and done a paralysis spell on him. Although the blow made his cloak wave it still covered his face. Tyra's father had his hands on the woman's wounds trying to heal her but to no avail.

Tyra sat there crying as was her father but he kept telling her his wife, "Please don't die, I need you. You can't die." He kept crying as his wife's dress, once neat and clean was now stained with dirt and blood. Tyra got up and walked over to the cloaked man who was now surrounded by all the people who had met in her father's castle. When she saw the man face she was filled with rage, it was her fathers closest friend-Kyle. She walked back to her mother, now dead, said a time spell, grabbed her father's sword, and jumped through the portal. Her father, surprised by her act said, "Tyra wait, you don't know what you're doing." But it was too late she had already gone and the portal had closed, all he could do was wait for her return.

She woke up sweating but was relieved to see no one else was around. She walked to the kitchen area and ate a little food then crept upstairs to fulfill her mission. She came up to Spyke and Telima's room and checked to see if they were still asleep. They were asleep so she continued to Kyle's room. She walked in to see that he was also asleep so this would be easy. She walked up to his bed and unsheathed her sword and stabbed him but it went in too smoothly so she threw the covers back and found that it was just a decoy and when she turned around the door was shut and Kyle was blocking the way to the door.

"Now, now, you shouldn't kill people, especially those who know why you want them dead." Kyle said.

Tyra pointed her sword at him and said, "You killed my mother you asshole and now I'm going to kill you.

" "You are far too inexperienced to do that." Kyle replied.

Tyra lunged at him with her sword but he blocked her attack and kicked her back across the room. She hit the floor with a thud which woke everyone in the vicinity up.

Spyke, Telima, Dragon, and Severed all walked out of their rooms and stood outside their doors and Dragon asked, "What the hell is going on out here?"

Meanwhile back inside Kyle's room Kyle walked over to where Tyra was on the ground, picked her up by the throat, and slung her at the door, which was obliterated as Tyra flew through it and hit the wall outside the door. She lie slumped against the wall still gripping her sword trying to get up and Kyle walked out with his sword pointed at Tyra.

"Kyle wait, what are you doing?" Spyke asked as he jumped at Kyle and kicked him away from Tyra.

"She tried to kill me, I think its only right I try the same with her." Kyle said.

"You touch her again I'll kill you." Spyke said. Spyke backed up and squatted down beside Tyra and asked, "Are you alright?"

Tyra looked up at him with tears in her eyes, "Father.he killed.mother."

"Telima, get Tyra out of here now." Spyke said as he unsheathed his sword.

She picked up Tyra with Severed's help and toke her downstairs while Dragon and Spyke stayed.

"Well now, looks like those memories that Tyra brought back with her finally came to the front of your mind." Kyle said as he propped his sword on his shoulder.

"Yeah and you're going to die for treason." Spyke said.

"Treason? Ha, I was never on your side after all the souls were released. You caused the only one I loved to be incinerated so I'm taking from you what you toke from me." Kyle told him.

Dragon shook his head, "Kyle, you agreed to this just like everyone else."

"You stay out of this old man, this is between him," he pointed towards Spyke with his sword, "and me."

"It's ok Dragon I'll take care of this one."

After he said that Kyle charged at Spyke with his sword out. Spyke dodged the sword and threw Kyle down the stairs. Whenever Kyle hit the bottom of the stairs he saw Severed and Telima trying to get Tyra to wake up. He slowly crept over to them and right when he was five feet away he lunged his sword at them but was stopped by a force field Severed had put around them.

He started beating on the force field trying to break it when Spyke kicked him in the side and sent him ten feet away from the girls and said, "I said try and touch them you die, but I'm giving you a chance. Since my abilities with the sword are far greater than yours you can either get away from here and never come back or die."

"I'm not leaving until that bitch is dead and the future is secured to stay the same." Kyle told him.

"You leave me no choice then, you were my best friend but all that ended when you harmed my daughter."

They charged at each other, locking sword every time they took swings at each other. Finally they both landed one blow, they both stabbed each other in their right shoulders. Kyle started wincing at the pain that just shot through him while Spyke sat there and didn't move.

"You can't take as much pain as I can either so you've already lost." Spyke said.

"I haven't lost yet." Kyle yelled as he took his sword out of Spyke's shoulder and cut two slashes across Spyke's chest.

Spyke winced as he was cut and before Kyle could make his final cut through the neck Tyra jumped off the couch at him and kicked him in his injured shoulder.

Kyle roared in pain and anger and said, "You shall pay for that," as he got up and walked over to her grabbed her by the throat again and slung her as hard as he could against the wall. When she hit the wall she blacked out and Spyke roared in rage and ran as fast as he could at Kyle. Spyke stabbed Kyle in the gut then done a roundhouse kick into his neck and brought his foot straight through Kyle's neck. Kyle fell to the ground without a movement or a twitch. Spyke ran over to Tyra's side along with the other three right behind him.

When he got there she was just waking up and he asked, "Are you alright? That's two walls in less than an hour."

Tyra smiled, "Yeah, I'm ok but did you get Kyle?"

Dragon looked over at Kyle's decapitated body and said, "Yeah, he got him."

Spyke picked Tyra up and set her back down on the couch while he sat on the coffee table in front of the couch. "The bad thing about time travel is you bring back memories along with your physical form, that why Kyle knew you'd be coming back and why I killed my friend to stop what would have happened." Spyke said.

Severed and Telima were still confused by what all just happened so Severed asked, "What exactly are you talking about?"

Spyke looked at her then laughed, "Let's let Tyra here tell you as soon as she gets some rest, but I can tell you this that feeling you got when she left the first time kind of explains it all."

Everyone agreed and they left as Tyra went to sleep. Dragon and Spyke went upstairs to work on the door that Tyra was thrown through while Severed and Telima made drinks.

A few hours after she went to sleep she woke up with everyone sitting at the fire place drinking.

"Well, well, well, you finally decide to wake up?" Spyke asked.

Tyra sat up and said, "Ok, I'm ready to tell y'all what's going on even though Dragon and Father already know. First of all I the portal I came through was a time portal. And second I attacked Kyle when I first saw him because he killed my mother and by killing him now I would be able to save Mother in the future."

"Who's your mother?" Severed asked.

"I can't tell you that, Father knows because he remembered me but I can't openly say who my mother is until she remembers me." Tyra replied.

"What about the sword it looked almost identical to Spyke." Telima asked.

"That's because it is, I stole my father's sword and jumped through a portal before anyone could do anything."

"Well how come Dragon and Spyke remembered you and we can't?" Severed asked.

"Because dragon minds can comprehend things faster than any mind there is." Spyke told them.

"Ok, that pretty much answers everything. So when are you going back?" Severed asked.

"As soon as I can." Tyra said.

"Oh, well I guess you better be getting back, your father will think something has happened to you." Severed told her.

"Actually he won't even know I changed the past he'll just know that Mother is still alive and think I've been there the whole time, but I do need to go." Tyra said as she said the spell and a portal opened to her time. Tyra walked over to Spyke, Dragon, Telima, and Severed and hugged them good bye, "But before I go, Telima come here I have to tell you something." Telima walked over to her and Tyra whispered where only Telima could hear, "A new life is beginning inside of you."

"What!?" Telima asked surprised.

"You'll find out soon enough." Tyra said as she walked to the portal and done a back flip into it and disappeared along with the portal.

"Well maybe her choices will have a good outcome." Dragon said.

"Speaking of choices, I have one for you Telima." Spyke said as he stood and kneeled in front of Telima, "Every since I met you I knew you were someone I could live forever with, so that being said, will you marry me?"

Telima smiled and said, "Of course I will."

"Well now I guess I'll have to get Celine to wed you two." Dragon said.

Both Spyke and Telima laughed and Telima said, "Well I guess I'll add more good news." She looked to Spyke and said, "I just found out what Tyra meant by what she told me before she left, I'm pregnant."

"That's great!" Spyke exclaimed, "We'll get married and have a kid a few months later. And she will be a great daughter."

"What? How do you know its going to be a girl?" Telima asked. Spyke gave her a funny look. "You mean Tyra was our child?" Telima asked.

Spyke smiled and said, "Yes, her magic came from you and her strength and agility came from me." They kissed and then toasted to a new life.

In the future Tyra's efforts paid off. Dragon made the decisions Kyle would have made and Telima was alive at the meeting and there after.

Meanwhile in another realm a man shrouded by mists and shadows looked into a pool of water and said, "Fools, they think that Kyle wasn't supposed to kill Telima and then be killed in the past by her daughter. I had all that planned, I control everyone's fate, for I, itself, shall always turn the fate of others as I see fit.
