"A Portrait of Deadly Calm Despair" - This was a scratchboard assignment done whilst still in the cesspit collectively known as High School *laughs*. It was the very first time that I attempted to draw Erik whatsoever. I will always remember vividly my trembling hands as I attempted to draw the conceptual sketch it was beyond nervousness

On another note, I believe many "Phans" out there will recognize the symbolism for the legend of the White Rose and the Nightingale as mentioned in Susan Kay's book. Here, lamenting over a red rose, allowing the thorns to freely lacerate his elegant hands as tears of blood- of mental anguish roll unheeded down his cold, dead cheeks.we see that this Ocean Soul really is the epitome of "Deadly, Calm Despair"

"Don Juan Triumphant (Lonely Soul...Ocean Soul)" -

How long wilt thou forget me O Lord? For ever? How long wilt thou hide thy face from me?
How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? How long shalt mine enemy be exalted over me?
Consider and hear me, O Lord my God; lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;
Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.
But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

-Psalm 13

....It was once told that my description for this on another site was confusing.*smiles*, heartily to this I reply; "He who hath ears, let him hear" I would also like to add that the band Nightwish wields a rich vein of Phantom symbolism, if you listen closely enough.
