The Watchers

They are the Watchers of Man and of the older Races, like the Jaguar People and the Unii.

In the beginning, they lived among men teaching them. The Watchers taught women charms, enchantments, the cutting of roots, and the knowledge of plants. They taught men how to make various weapons and armor, and also arts and sciences, until some Watchers fell to the impulses of man and created war and upset amongst the human people.

When some of the Watchers felt a false sense of power killing mortals, they were punished and condemned to the Shadow Realms. And in their arrogance sought to defy their Master and fought back by the raping and killing of women and men and children. And they were punished again, the once beautiful faces and souls, that made mortals weep, were twisted into  hideous beast-like creatures and an army was formed to hunt them down and send them back to the Shadow Realm.
