Common Questions Answerd

OK now that we have the basic's of what a witch is and is not, I think now's a good time to move on to some of the most commonly asked questions.

Are there male witches?

Yes. They are simply called witches, just like the females. They are not called worlocks I'll get to what a worlock is next.

What is a worlock?

The incorrect term (male witch) was popularized by the t.v. show "Bewitched" as a way to differentiate between male and female witches. The true meaning of worlock (in most but not all pagan traditions) is oath breaker or traitor. This is partly because during the times of witch burnings a person would sometimes infiltrate our covens to gain evidence to be used in trial. In exchange for doing so they were given free range to our homes and belongings. However in some traditions worlock means guardian or protector. Though this doesn't make them a witch.

What is Paganism?

Today pagan generally refers to any religions outside of the "big three" Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Normally pagan traditions have more then one deity (God/Goddess.) Some better known pagan faiths are-Wicca, Druidism, Vodoun, Dianism, Egyptian, and the list goes on and on.

Can witches do the things I see them do on TV?

No. As said on the last page witches can't fly on brooms etc. etc. Hollywood seldom sticks to facts when, as they would probably do in this case, cut profits. You want flashy lights and funny words rent a movie ;-).

Are there good and bad witches?

Well yes and no. It's basically like asking if there are good and bad Christians, Jews, or Muslims. As said on the last page many witches use magick for good and some for bad.

Do witches worship Satan?

Like I said on the last page witches were around long before Christianity or Satan. People who worship Satan are really Christians in more ways then they are witches, as they worship an aspect of Christianity not paganism.

What do witches do?

Once again as I said on the page before. Witches do the same things everyone else dose. Eat, sleep, drink, pay bills and taxes, work etc etc.

Can you be a Christian and a witch at the same time?

Well.....i think this is something that you have to decide for yourself. In my view the answer is no.

Is there a difference between witches and psychics?

Yes, a big difference. This is one of the most common misconceptions about witches. Witches (at least not all of them) are not psychics. Being psychic in some way, shape, or form is a natural ability, once agian being a witch is not. The only thing may be that some witches may want to learn and/or in hanse any natural abilities they may have.

What is a hereditary witch?

Hereditary witches claim to have been born a witch. However this is false. It just isn't posable to be born with all the knowledge and study needed to be a witch. What is posable is to be born with some sort of psychic ability. Though on another note. It is also posable to have a higher natural energy level (not the physical kind). This could vary well be useful in forms or magick where natural energies are highly used.

What is a spell?

A spell is basicly anything where magick is worked. It can range from a dance, working with herbs, just a prayer, and the list goes on.

How can I become a witch?

First and for most. STUDY STUDY STUDY. Go to a bookstore or library and pick up a book on witchcraft. If you aren't sure ask someone working there to help you. On the first go try and get a book that is more general to give you a good look at what magick really is. Then if it seams interesting dive in for some more. After this move on to books focusing on more specific forms of magick (Wicca, Magickal Herbalism, Druidism, etc. etc.) After doing that for a while you can go ahead and choose a path that seams right for you. Or if you seam to like various aspects from several forms go ahead and choose what is know as Eclectic paganism. This is where various aspects are taken from different forms (whether many or few) of magick to suit you individually. Though one thing is always for sure. Never stop studying. Sure once you have studied a lot and settled into your magickal path things tend to slow down but always keep on studying. You never know when you might see something that suits your fancy or is similar but just makes more sense then what you are practicing now.

What is karma?

Karma is a vary basic aspect. Basically it states what ever you do comes back three fold(some beleave 10 fold some beleave not at all). Weather it be good or bad. This is most probably where the saying "what goes around comes around" comes from.

What do witches believe happens after death?

Again this is a subject that can vary from person to person. Many believe in reincarnation.

Are Ouija Boards, crystal balls, and tarot cards for real?

Yes. And one dose not need to be a witch to use one properly. Just about anyone can be trained to properly use these tools.
