Response to "Video Game Violence" Authored by kcm Formatted for web by Travis Love ----------------------------------- I'm probably waaaayyy too tired to be intelligently commenting on this, but I'm going to attempt it anyway. Travis, you are very good at being persuasive. You do a good job of using strong language and almost irrefutable logic. Almost. I disagree with your example of burning books and censoring movies. Though I can understand the movies, because it is showing the violence, they are rated and most parents are more cautious about the ratings of the movies their kids see than the video games their kids play. At least, I think so. But books don't even show visual images of violence. And most violence is necessary in literature. I can prove it to you - I wrote a novel paper on that question. And in both of these, it is not the player inflicting the violence. In video games, it is the player committing the acts of violence, not just witnessing them. This could psychologically influence a person much more drastically than seeing or imagining while reading about violence. However, it was a very well written article. I liked your hook; it was creative. Though I disagree with some things you said, I like how you said them.
