Solitude It seems all of the rhyme schemes, all of the beats Have been stolen away to leave me in defeat The words are all used and the poetry's gone For a million young sinners all writing their wrongs But there's nothing wrong with me wanting to write Since I can't ever tell you what I learned last night Some people say that the best thing in life Never changes, but I say they lie It's a matter subjective, it changes with time and with circumstance, until we die. But it seems that in your mind, it's people. If you're lonely, friend, I'm lonely too But you stopped my advances and fled straight away Now my pity is pity for you. You put on a mask and invite them all in 'cause you're lonely - what else can you do? Shuffling lovers like playing cards, no one can win Your heart, it still belongs to you They'll grab and they'll shriek, and they'll take all you've got And still will be begging for more Break you, suck your soul dry, and leave you alone Weak and battered, right there on the floor Maybe then, lying there, when you're used up and torn Between gaiety and tears of fear You'll figure out, somehow, the best thing in life It's a wisdom that wise men revere Truth is, you've been misled by the things you've been taught In the vacuous realms of your mind YOu've decided to win hearts, whatever the cost Even blind men are never so blind. Now, I'd love to send all your troubles away And all of your fears and suspicions allay It all happens inside and I can't convince you To stop doing the one thing you know how to do If you should believe me, then maybe you'll see And maybe you'll change and reconsider me But if you don't listen, that's not my concern You'll die if you don't, but you'll live if you learn. For a life lived for others is not one worth living And it's better to not spend all of your time giving. You spend too much time pleasing others; stop trying And get busy living, 'cause you're busy dying.
