Driving By Dummies
Whakum

Being underage (and legally blind,) I am unable to get around by driving.  Thus I am what the world knows as a pedestrian, from the latin word Pedos, or foot.  In the last two months alone, I have had a total of 28 near-death experiences while walking.  Every last one was the result of an automobile.
Now, Detroit may be the motor city, but I live in the suburbs!  I don't expect to be run down three times a week by a crazed motorist in the right turn lane.  That's why there's a "No right on red" sign.  Unfortunately, there's not one on every street corner.
To make matters worse, 27 of my 28 experiences were caused, not by teens as you might expect, but by fully functional adults who presumably have taken driver's education.  Personally, I find it insulting that so many people can be so stupid.  I'm just one kid, and my city has thousands of residents.
Driver's education courses tell people that pedestrians such as myself have the right of way.  I sincerely hope that whoever forgot to mention that fact was fired.  We need to get our adults off the streets and into class, because, bottom line, it's unsafe.  Not just for me, but for them as well.
