Buffy/Angel Dedication

I decided to make a special section of my website dedicated to the best couple ever to grace my t.v. screen...Buffy and Angel. Their relationship was so dynamic and so amazing and I'm going to do my best to chronicle it here.

Their Story

When Buffy first met Angel (in Welcome to the Hellmouth) she wasn't too fond of him. In fact she described him as "Dark, gorgeous in an annoying sort of way." Angel told her he wanted the same thing as Buffy, to kill all vampires. She was less than thrilled. He also gave her a cross necklace. After that he would show up on occasion to give her a cryptic warning about something and then disappear.
In the episode "Angel" Buffy invites the mysterious stranger into her house when they're running from a gang of vamps called "The Three".

Angel ends up sleeping next to her bed and they are both acting extremely cute. The nexy day Buffy returns home from school and then end up kissing. Angel's demonic features show through causing Buffy to scream and him to jump out a window.
Later that night Buffy goes to the Bronze to kill him because she thinks he fed off her mother. Turns out it was Darla, Angel's girlfriend when he was bad, and she attempts to kill Buffy and lure Angel back to the dark side. Angel ends up killing Darla becuase he loves Buffy.
Buffy sees him the next day at Bronze once everything is back to normal. They agree that the "thing" they have could never be anything. They kiss and Buffy's cross necklace leaves a burn-mark on him.
Angel shows up again in prophecy girl to help Buffy fight the master. He also discovered that Xander loved Buffy.
Xander: How can I say this clearly? I don't like you. At the end of the day, I pretty much think you're a vampire. But Buffy's got this big old yen for you. She thinks you're a real person. And right now I need you to prove her right.
Angel: You're in love with her.
Xander: Aren't you?

When Buffy returns to Sunnydale after a summer in L.A. she's mean to Angel because of her trauma over dying at the hands of the Master. At the end of the epsiode she smashes the hell out of the masters bones and sobs in Angel's arms.
Throughout season two Buffy and Angels love for each other grows. In the episode "Lie To Me" he asks her if she loves him and she answers "I love you. I don't know if I trust you.
In the epsiode "What's My Line" Buffy shows Angel that she accepts the fact that he's a vampire by kissing him with his demonic face on. Here is their dialouge. This was one of the sweetest b/a moments ever, in my opinion.
For her seventeenth birthday Angel gives Buffy a claddagh ring. He tells her "The hands represent friendship, the crown represents loyalty, and the heart...well, you know." It represents Angel's undying love for Buffy, especially since he would have to leave Sunnydale for several years. Turns out Angel doesn't have to leave and after being attacked by the Judge they take their relationship to the next level. They make love for the first time.

Angel wakes up and groans in pain. He runs out into the street and collapses to his knees calling out for Buffy. Tune in next week to find out why he's in so much pain.
The catch to Angels gypsy curse was that his suffering was to be eternal; if he had even one moment of true happiness all that would be taken from him. Angel lost his soul and Angelus returned. Buffy goes to his apartment, unaware that Angelus was back, and Angel treats her with cruelty and coldness I didn't think could be done so convincingly.

The next few months were hell for Buffy. Angelus tortured her relentlessly and even killed Giles' girlfriend, Miss Calendar. In the amazing season finale Buffy goes to the mansion to kill Angel once and for all. Meanwhile at the hospital Willow performs the ritual to restore Angel's soul. Just as Buffy is about to take Angelus out his soul is restored and he returns to being Angel.

It was too late, though, the ritual had already started and even though Buffy loved him with all her heart she thrust her sword through Angel's stomach, closing the portal and sending Angel to hell.
Angel: what's happening Buffy?
Buffy: Shh... It doesn't matter,"
She pulls away to look at him, and kisses him passionately.
Buffy: I love you.
Angel: I love you
Buffy: Close your eyes
And, BAM! just like that Angel, his soul restored goes to hell. Buffy is extremely traumatized and runs away from Sunnydale leaving her friends and family behind.
She returns in season 3 but is still in pain from having to kill Angel. Another slayer, Faith, comes to Sunnydale and the two girls bond. Things are starting to get a bit easier for Buffy. She goes over to the mansion, remembering all the events that have happened there. She drops the claddagh ring and walks out. As she leaves a portal is opened and Angel is dropped on the ground naked, shivering and crying.
Buffy discovers his return and starts nursing him back to health. She keeps him a secret from the scoobs, fearing how they would respond. They eeventually discover anyhow. Buffy and Angel kept their relationship on a friendship level, knowing the consequences of having anything more. After a few episodes of that Spike returns. He scoffs when he hears that they're just friends and makes the famous "never be friends" speech.
Spike: "You're not friends. You'll never be friends. You'll be in love 'til it kills you both. You'll fight, and you'll shag, and you'll hate each other 'til it makes you quiver, but you'll never be friends. Love isn't brains, children, it's blood. Blood screaming inside you to work its will. I may be love's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it."
Buffy tells Angel that she can't be around him because she can't fool herself about not loving him. She tells Angel that the only way they can still see each other is for Angel to tell Buffy he doesn't love her. Angel says nothing because he loves her with all his heart.
In the episode "Amends" Angel is haunted by the ghosts of people he has killed. He decides the one way to make everything right again is to kill himself. Buffy begs him not to and tries to convince him that he is more than just a monster.
Buffy: What about me? I love you so much... And I tried to make you go away... I killed you and it didn't help. And I hate it! I hate that it's *so* hard... and that you can hurt me *so* much. I know everything that you did, because you did it to me. Oh, God! I wish that I wished you dead. I don't. (whispers) I can't.
They decide that together they can do it...they can be happy.

Throughout the season they have a good steady relationship. Things get a little shaky though once the Mayors ascension comes closer. The Mayor says some things to Angel about being immortal and dating a human that makes him realize he and Buffy could never be together. He breaks up with her in the sewers the day before The Prom. Here's what he said. Buffy's heart is broken and she sits on Willows bed and cries her eyes out.

She goes to the prom by herself and feels terrible. She's talking to Giles when he notices that Angel has come in. She goes over to him and they have one last dance before he leaves. In "Graduation Day part I" Angel is shot by an arrow that has a poison on it that slowly kills the undead. The only cure is slayers blood. Buffy attempts to get Faith but puts her into a coma instead. She makes Angel drink from her and he nearly killed her in the process.

They fight and defeat the mayor. After the battle is over Buffy sees Angel amongst the rescue workers, ambulances and injured. They share a look and he turns and just walks out of Buffys life, both of their hearts breaking every second.

In season four Angel returns to Sunnydale without Buffy knowing it. He also leaves without a goodbye, and when Buffy finds out she's upset. She goes to L.A. to yell it him for sneaking around. She does and everything is sorted out when suddenly a Morah demon comes crashing through the door. The fight it and during the fight Angel's blood get's mixed with the demons, causing him to become human. Angel and Buffy share a passionate night together (hint, hint).

Angel's friend, Doyle, tells him that the Morah demon has returned. Angel goes to fight it and realizes he doesn't have super-powers anymore. He gets his butt kicked and Buffy show up to save the day. Angel goes to the Oracles and asks what would happen to Buffy if he stayed human. They tell him the devastating news that she would die. Angel can never bear for that to happen Angel asks for the day to be turned back. That would mean everything that happened, that Angel and Buffy shared, wouldn't have really happened. Angel would have the memory of everything that happened but Buffy wouldn't. He returns to tell her and she doesn't handle it well. She freaks out and tells him "I'll never forget, I'll never forget." She does anyhow.
After Buffy's mother, Joyce, dies Angel returns to Sunnydale to comfort Buffy. He sits with her and tells her he'll stay as long as she wants and she replies "How's forever? Does forever work for you?" He kisses her.

Buffy did go to see Angel in L.A. after he found out she was alive but it was "intense" and Buffy didn't discuss it with anyone.

That's their story so far...
