I need someone I can lay beside,
Who can enfold me in their embrace.
I need someone I can look in the eye
And kiss when we stand face to face.
I need someone I can depend on
To be there through thick and thin.
I need someone to grow old with,
Unconcerned about where they've been.
I need someone who can listen
And hear every unspoken word
Engulfed within my confession,
A testament for being heard.
I need someone who can lift me
And protect me from the fall.
I need someone to take care of
And who can care for me if I call.
Now realistic obstacles are evident
So I'll move on with my life once again
And continue my ever patient effort
To find a lover, partner and friend.
