The ABC's of BDSM

These are a few of my favorite things.... Actually, here is a list of some common terms associated with BDSM that might help better understand this lifestyle. Keep in mind they are not ALL of them. Just some of the more interesting or most popular ones.


A:

Asphyxiation. The condition of being deprived oxygen.

Anal: Umm we all know what that is I hope.


B:

Breath play- See Asphysxiation.

Bondage: Ropes. Tie me up cowboy. YEEHAW!

Biting: Using teeth to create sensations, particularly pain

Bottom: N: A submissive or slave. V: Submitting.


C:

Clamps: Those painful things Dominants like to use to cease the flow of blood to a part on the body.

Collar: As symbolic (supposedly) as a wedding band typicaly worn around the neck. Made of steel, leather or velvet. Can also be a ring, a bracelet or anklet.

Crop: My favorite! No seriously... A short whip with a loop serving as a lash.

Cane: A rod used for flogging; typically made of bamboo or rattan

Consensual: Involving the willing participation of both or all parties, especially in an illegal transaction or practice

CBT: Cock and Ball Torture (Yeouch!)


D:

Domination: To take power or control over another.

Dominant: The one who holds the flogger, cane or crop.

Discipline: Basically...to train or to punish.


E:

Enema----------Enough said.

Exchange: As in exchange of power.

Erotica: Literature or art intended to arouse sexual desire.


F:

Fire play: The craft of careful playing with fire.

Flogger: Instrument used for flogging; can be made of many materials that range from a "thuddy" feel to a "stingy" feel.

Fetish: Something, such as a material object or a nonsexual part of the body, that arouses sexual desire and may become necessary for sexual gratification.


G:

Gag/Gagging: To silence someone by inserting something into their mouth. Often times used as a scarf, tape or ball-gag.

Gor: A series of books created by John Norman about a fictional planet on the other side of the sun.


H:

Hair pulling: Tugging ones hair for pleasure/pain/trigger response.

Harness: Used to restrict movement.

Humiliation: Varying in forms. From degredation to trigger response.


I:

Ice play: Using ice for pleasurable or painful torture means.

Interrogation: To examine by questioning formally or officially. Can be simpe to intense in methods.


J: *thinks hard of something with a "J"


K:

Kajira: A word meaning slave in Gor

Kink: All the naughty stuff we indulge in.

Kneel/Kneeling: The proper position when a submissive is at rest beside her Dominant/Master.


L:

Lash: Strike from a whip

Leather: Popular material used in BDSM. From collars to floggers.

Limits: A boundary either party has set that is not to be engaged in. I.E. Pain for some is a limit they will not engage in during a session or scene.


M:

Masochist: The ones who enjoys being hurt.

Master: Another word used to describe a Dominant.


N:

Nipples: The things God invented clothes pins for.


O:

Obedience: Obeying what the Dominant says.

Oral Sex: I'm sure you all know what this is...


P:

Paddle: An instrument used to cause pain.

Pain The feelings that arise that makes you say OWWWWWWW

Painslut: Someone who craves that feeling of OWWWW

Punishment: The discipline given when one is bad.


Q: I have no idea


R:

RACK Acronym for Risk Aware Consensual Kink

Rape: A non-consensual activity where one forces sex upon another person.

Rope: A material used to bind someone.


S:

Sadism: (oh yes!) The deriving of pleasure, or the tendency to derive pleasure, from cruelty.

Safeword: A word or number used by the submissive to indicate to her Dominant that she has surpassed her limits. Typically "Red" means stop and is used as a safeword.

Serve/Serving: The act of performing for another in any way that would please Him or Her.

Shadow Play: Reenacting a moment in the submissives past in order to heal and move on from it.

Slave: Typically the one who has given up her rights and privledges in the relationship.

Speculum: A fun device used for dialting either the vagina or the anus. Used oftentimes in GYNO play.

Submission: The act of giving up oneself to a Dominant

Submissive: The one who submits.

Switch: Someone who indulged in both roles; Dominant and submissive.


T:

TENS Unit: A veryyyy fun electrical device that is gives off controllable pain from pads attached to the skin.

TPE: Total Power Exchange. Used as a noun or a verb as in living in a TPE relationship.


U: (Still working on this one)


V:

Vanilla/Vanilla's: A term used to distinguish the non-BDSM lifestyle or lifestylers

Violet Wand (Ok I love this so Ill try not to sound too biased) Low-voltage electrical device which produces static electricity. Used to torture and/or stimulate the submissives sensitive parts, often during electrical play


W:

Wax: A means of pleasure or pain for the submissive. Candle wax play is considered a "Mastered" art by some Dominants.

Watersports: To be urinated on or to urinate on someone.


Z:

Zoophilia: The act of indulging in sex with animals.
