INTRODUCTION TO EMICC, INC. ABOUT EMICC Our mission is to provide programs and support services to homeless and other underserved people of Santa Clara County that will help them get back on their feet. We offer educational, vocational and holistic training and counseling programs that are designed to prepare people in unfortunate situations with the skills and experience they need to survive and succeed in today’s society. EMICC was started in 1997 by Marie Shreiner, Director of EMICC, Inc. Ms. Schreiner recognized, through her own personal experience, how easily regular, hard-working people can lose control of their lives and find themselves without hope for any kind of life or future. Her vision for EMICC was and is to drive toward a solution to one of the community’s most stressing problems by helping people help themselves. EMICC is a non-profit organization incorporated in Santa Clara County. EMICC is funded primarily through its own fund-raising events and activities. With the support of hundreds of businesses and other organizations, EMICC has been able to provide training and support services to thousands of people in the Bay Area. Our focus is to bring services to the people who need it the most and are not as likely to receive it if not for programs such as this one. Having fundraisers to raise money and resources for the many people that we serve in San Jose's Silicon Valley is but one of the ways we raise the resources that we need to accomplish our mission. Thank you for all your support. Please keep in mind that it is more than greatly appreciated. About the center. Marle Mende Schreiner has a mission to help the homeless who are lost, alone and hungry, who need counseling and a skill to turn their lives around. Why is Marie so passionate about the homeless? For six years of her adult life, Marie herself was one of the confused, frightened and lost individuals. She endured depression, addiction, homelessness, and prison. Marie has transformed her past into a springboard for achievement and confidence. She is now reaching out to seek supporters who can help her bring hope, and help to the homeless. The Amelia Mende's International Counseling Center (EMIDD) is named in honor of Marie's youngest child. The Center's purpose is to provide three meals a day for the homeless and serve as a counseling and referral resource, enabling clients to find the helping hands already in place the the community."Never give up" because you have the power to change lives.
