How To Play

You're Turn

a turn in warhammer40k consists of phases.
    these are the turn Phases
  1. Movement
  2. Shooting
  3. Close-Combat
  4. Psychic
  5. Regroup
Movement-in the movement phase you can move any of you model, provided that they are able to, across the playing field as far as they are allowed. each model has a set distance that they can move.

Here is a chard explaining movement of the different armies:

Army/Race Max Movement in inches)
Imperial Guard 4
Space Marines 4
Eldar 5
Dark Eldar 5
Chaos Marines 4
Tryenids 6
Space Orks 4

Shooting-after your movement phase you get your chance to open fire and blast some butt wide open! now some models have "heavy weapons" and cant move and shoot in the same turn, this is because their weapons are to big and have to be carried on their shoulder which makes running with the thing then trying to shoot imposable, so they have to chose either to move or shoot in a turn. Most of the weapons are hand held so the soldier can move and fire with relive ease. Each weapon has a maximum range that it can shoot, for example: a bolt gun has a max of 12" so it can only hit targets within 12" of the firing model.

Close Combat- if two opposing models bases are toughing, then they can engage in hand to hand combat. In hand to hand if basically a comparison of stats to see who over powers the other. some weapons; such as pistols, swords, and axes; can improve a models action in hand to hand because they are designed for such close range.

Psychic-some models have psychic powers that can effect enemy of friendly models. in the psychic phase they are allowed to use their superior mind power to try to sway battle by doing things to improve an army's stats, lower them, or just inflict mayhem and damage to those who stand in the way.

Regroup-in this phase the army can recover from shock of casualties, cretin phycic effects, and separation of their squads.

Wining A Game

The goals that must be reached to win a game depends on the scenario. A scenario is just what type of game you are playing. My favorite is each player has 4 turns, at the end of the turns whoever has the most kills wins.
