Media, Music and Teens of the World

This project opens discussion between high school students originally from Brazil and Saskatchewan. The theme of this project is personal values and the media specifically related to music videos and pop groups from various cultures and countries. There were several steps to the project, that will no doubt be on-going.
Part One: Music Genres: Students brainstormed to categorize the five most popular musical genres as defined by teens. Each student was then responsible to write a short reflection on what makes them like their category. Examples of student works and some concluding statements that were made after sharing ideas both locally and internationally.
Part Two: Music Videos: Students will watch videos with or without sound depending on the lyrics acceptability, and reflect on key questions related to intent, presentation and effect.
Part Three: Collaborative Video: Students will work to gether to produce commentary music videos, music videos, or other related content to share and discuss with other students within the school and externally to international schools.
